how do I lift liight weights in ww posture.

Body:

My upper arms are scary flappy like bingo arms. Please tell me I can't. I'm talking 5 lb to 8 lb weights. Thanks

Dear lindamore,
I have a box full of handweights, however for as long as I can & as long as my wrists are strong enough, I will do push - ups from the knees on a cushion/pillow, with my back curve in place & lower belly relaxed. I find doing just 10 - 20 every other day gives faster & easier results.
If you want to use handweights, sit in a chair in Whole Woman Posture - keep shoulders down & head in correct position - do in front of a mirror if possible.
I hope this helps.
(((hugs))) & Best wishes,

Thanks that's what I needed to know. I'm not ready to completely give up on the rest of my body yet. I am pretty bummed out right now. It's only been a month of this. Actually diagnosed with prolapse in 2008 but we had a terrible family tragedy in 2009 and as a family we spent the past four and a half years grieving and caring for other's.

Lindamore, I think you will be in a much better position to support your prolapse and protect lumbar curvature, if you let this new posture "take hold" a bit more before you start lifting weights. It takes time and total focus. That being said, if the weights are that important to you right now, please do observe posture principles to the max and keep the weights close to your body. - Surviving

Got it surviving60, I'm in no hurry have to get this posture better. It's tough. I'm actually scared to even walk outside now for fear i'll do more damage. I ahve to get over this fear and jsut relax. The dvd FAFP is great and it's helping me. I go to a dark place several times a day. A little better this morning, listened to some music and watched a few minutes of the movie Moonstruck with my 12 year old son. Some cute and funny scenes with him brightened my day. I don;t know where i'd be without thsi group and my husband and two sons.

I also have a couple of sets of hand-weights. I love them! We have spoken a bit on these forums about arm-flapping (lifting your arms above your head, and feeling everything in the pelvic region lift). I see using hand-weights as an extension of this. I love that feeling, especially with some extra weight for resistance. As long as you do it in posture, I can't see any problem with it at all. (Although if you did feel any heaviness or pressure or dragging while you were doing it, then you would need to alter what you are doing).
