Bop+SCARED!!!

Body:

OK so I'm a bit of a hypochondriac and I don't want to go to the hospital and look dumb. But I'm really freaking out my new doctor is not helping at all. I've searched for information for a week on how to care for myself until my urologist apt but I just don't know exactly where the "how bad can it get" point gets to the worsest!!. Maybe someone could help?

I started off going to my gp with what I thought was a swollen knot from a bladder infection just inside my vaginal opening on my urethra. I was told I had a bladder infection without a pelvic exam and sent home with antibiotics. That was last Wednesday. I went back to the Dr. Monday because the knot was then protruding from my opening. I told him that the swelling was getting worse and I thought maybe my bladder had fallen, after doing a little research and asking around. They done a folly catheter and refereed me to a urologist that I will be seeing Monday. My bulge is getting progressively worse! When I sit down it feels like a grapefruit trying to push through. My urethra is completly to the side and I have to open up my "outer lips" to even pee. Now I have to stand up and just pee on a pad because it hurts to bad to sit down. It also feels like the bulge that is poking out is going to burst. When I touch it, it feels like a water balloon. I have also noticed blood in my urine. My GP didnt give me any information about what to do until I see the urologist. Should I go to the ER? Please help!

I should also add that I have No children and do not have any rememberance of doing any thing new that would cause a strain.

Hi Tink – I know you’re scared, and we are not medical professionals here. What I would suggest is just taking it easy and making sure that you are emptying your bladder completely. Get down on all fours to do this (in the shower is good)…..come back up and back down multiple times if necessary. This position will also move your organs into a better position, into the belly and away from the outlet.

You didn't mention your age. The blood could just be from irritation of the skin from the bulge rubbing. Are you pre or post menopause?

While you are waiting to be checked out, please look around this forum, blog and WW website and start learning a bit about prolapse and how it is best managed. The doc is likely to have some ideas that are not good ones, I’m sorry to say. If you haven’t already, start with the Video page (see Resources tab) – watch the first vid on the page, called Whole Woman Approach. It will give you a little background on how we manage ours. Good luck and relax. - Surviving
