Cleansing

Body: 

In addition to an improved diet, what would you suggest for immediate cleansing and dextoxification of the colon? Some things I read about on the net seem harsh but effective. I don't want to overdo it but I would like to know that I am doing something that is really working.

Hi Karen!

I'm so glad to hear from you...I have several recipes for liver flushes and colon cleansers, but I really believe in providing for oneself a very "clean" diet over the long run instead of doing this sort of fasting/cleansing/flushing.

I have found Ezekial bread to be an excellent fiber source (I use the one in the orange wrapper). Unlike other "whole grain" breads, this is made from organic sprouted grains: wheat, barley, millet, lentils, spelt - no sugar, no preservatives or chemicals. Sometimes for a sweet tooth I'll toast some Ezekial bread, then put on some flaxseed oil (after the bread cools - flaxseed oil can't take heat) and then spread on some all fruit spread. I try to eat two slices of the bread every day. I am uncomfortable if I don't have at least 2 bm's/day and this really helps. (By the way, because there are no preservatives, it is kept in the freezer - you should be able to get it from the grocery store. I keep mine in the freezer and just use it as needed. If re-frozen, the slices get difficult to separate)

I have just recently tried the Ezekiel bread and really love it. I also love making my own bread so was excited to see the idea of making it from sprouted wheat. I had read the package of the Ezekiel and was wondering how to make my own. I'm not real clear on the recipe though. Is the sprouted wheat the only ingredient? Or do you grind that for flour and then make the bread from any recipe using that flour?

Wheat is the only ingredient. I never use recipes, that's why mine are always a little sketchy. Leave the colander down in the sink where it's kind of protected from the dry air. You might have to rinse it three times a day, but I've found twice is adequate. Shake the colander gently as you rinse it to thoroughly rinse all the wheat. You want to see a root hair of about 1/4 inch before you process it...usually about two days.

Christine, Jolortz, Karens, I live in Michigan and have never heard of this "Ezekiel Bread". What is the substitute here in the midwest?
I am not a healthy eater but I would love to try this amazing bread! I don't want to make my own because my husband would not even try anything like this and a whole loaf is a lot for us anyway. One loaf would last me a month! Thanks, Nancy

Hi Nancy. It is Ezekiel 4:9 bread and you should be able to find it in your local grocery store. If they are not carrying this, check your local health food store. I use the sesame loaf and toast a slice each morning to a well done shade of brown. I then smear a teaspoon or more of organic coconut oil over it then follow that with a smuge of almond butter. A slice of banana on top completes this breakfast or dinner. Which ever. It is filling and delicious and I find I can bike/hike with this without becoming ill. It sits well on one's stomach.

I was unable to take the i-con out of the description of the Ezekiel bread. I now realize that by putting a colon in a smiley face is inserted. This is Ezekiel four, nine bread and numbers are used instead of the terms. Oh well. I would like to make Christine's recipefor sprouted bread but I do not possess a food processor only a vita-mix. I am wondering if I could use this machine on a slow speed instead. Hmmmm.

I am in Ohio and our Kroger store carries this bread in the freezer section of the store near the organic food items. My local health food store carries it as well and items they do not carry they order for me! :)

Mare...the Vitamix will make a gloppy mess out of the sprouts. This bread was made long before food processors, so any kind of grinding would do, even those clamp-on-to-the-counter metal hand grinders. The reason I like to make it in a food processor is that the root hairs are all spun to the top of the bowl by centrifugal force and can be easily scooped out and tossed, making a less moist, more bready-bread.
