Cystocele, Hormones, and Libido--Questions

Body:

I had a partial hysterectomy in 1988, followed by 20 years taking Premarin. In 2009 I went off this artificial estrogen and endured 3 years of intense hot flashes. In 2012 I began using bio-identical estrogen cream [applied to thin skin, not intravaginally] and the hot flashes disappeared. My libido also declined. My physician prescribed two other bio-identical hormones: progesterone [capsules] and testosterone cream. My cystocele then asserted itself--dry, painful and protruding. Increasing the dosage of estrogen alleviated the cystocele symptoms, but totally did away with my libido. Has anyone else had this kind of interaction among hormones, cystocele, and libido?

I have never had a hysterectomy, thus my perspective is not going to validate your experience. I thought about responding to you initially but I was not sure whether to or not. I noticed tonight that know one else has responded yet. I have a prolapse and have been on this site well over a year. I believe you are in the right place to get valuable resources that may help you in your search for answers. There are many highly competent and kind ladies on this site. The resources Christine offers are fabulous and well worth the money. Also you can search subjects of particular interest to you. With that being said. We are not doctors and you must do your own research and come to your own conclusions.
For myself, I search for none medical alternatives to the interventions offered by the medical community. I would rather suffer terrible hot flashed ( which I have had for 10 years, I am 57) than take artificial hormones and drugs. I want to KNOW my body and be in touch with what is really happening. I want to stand in the truth about what my body is saying to me. I DO NOT trust the majority of male or female practitioners and I work in the field! I have found that the WW posture is really, truly so important. I cant believe that the medical community continues to prescribe pills and want to inject us and perform surgeries. Its a hoax... met to bolster their misguided egos and to make money for the "boys club" and the pharmaceutical companies. So... I wish you well. Please stay on this website. You do have good advice there LTwest.I was going to mention hearing back in 1999 about sugar and hormones with hot flushes, I took notice of my own body when I had sugar.Over time when I had my lovely coffee or tea or the cakes and desserts (that I do love) I noticed I would feel a hot flush rising from my neck up to my head and feel quite flushed in my face.I stopped a lot of sugar intake and never had a problem with hot flushes. This was 16years ago.Not saying it works for everyone, but I took notice and it worked for me. All the best.

Hi Mikka - I too was finding myself at a loss to answer your question. Haven't had hyst, and I have never used hormones. I do know that if you still have your ovaries, it's quite probable that they no longer function because the blood supply was severed. This may have something to do with the fluctuations you've been experiencing.

As for the cystocele, I think that the only way in which hormones alleviate the symptoms is by building up the tissues so they are thicker and the bulge is not so bulgy. Not totally sure about this. I agree with LTWesp that this is not a good reason to be on hormones.

Though prolapse management through posture is somewhat easier for a wombed woman, ALL women should be doing this work, for the sake of their hips and spine, and because you still need to keep the remaining organs forward. I can't tell if you have checked out the contact of this site, but if not, I encourage you to explore more. - Surviving

Haven't eaten refined sugar since 1978. Guess that wasn't the cause of my hot flashes/ full body flushes.
