When I first “cracked the code” on stabilizing and reversing prolapse, and wrote and published Saving the Whole Woman, I set up this forum. While I had finally gotten my own severe uterine prolapse under control with the knowledge I had gained, I didn’t actually know if I could teach other women to do for themselves what I had done for my condition.
So I just started teaching women on this forum. Within weeks, the women started writing back, “It’s working! I can feel the difference!”
From that moment on, the forum became the hub of the Whole Woman Community. Unfortunately, spammers also discovered the forum, along with the thousands of women we had been helping. The level of spamming became so intolerable and time-consuming, we regretfully took the forum down.
Technology never sleeps, however, and we have better tools today for controlling spam than we did just a few years ago. So I am very excited and pleased to bring the forum back online.

Remember, the forum is here for two reasons. First, to get your questions answered by other women who have knowledge and experience to share. Second, it is the place to share your results and successes. Your stories will help other women learn that Whole Woman is what they need.
Whether you’re an old friend or a new acquaintance, welcome! The Whole Woman forum is a place where you can make a difference in your own life and the lives of thousands of women around the world!

Great stuff Lanny. I'd be happy to hand this out. I just wanted to ask about the source of the 80% figure. Where does this come from? And would it be possible to include the source in the flyer (in the interests of making a rigorous case)? Or maybe not have a figure if we don't have a source.

yes that is great... today while at my mums nursing home I was talking to the Registered Nurse in charge and I told her what I had learned... she lifted her chest and immediately noticed how that would help... she was curious regarding incontinence and different things (like kegals/pelvic floor etc) which I shared what I could recall in the moment... so I suggested she google Christine which she is going to do.. so I will definitely enjoy having the flyers available.. thanks Lanny

80%
Hi Curiosity,
The quote is from one of my surgical textbooks, which I cannot locate (the quote) at the moment. It is actually 77%, which we’ve rounded up to 80% in how we’ve thought and talked about prolapse over the years.
One of the most quoted statistics is from the Women’s Health Initiative:
Obstetrics & Gynecology:
September 2004 - Volume 104 - Issue 3 - pp 489-497
doi: 10.1097/01.AOG.0000136100.10818.d8
Original Research
Pelvic Organ Prolapse in Older Women: Prevalence and Risk Factors
Nygaard, Ingrid MD, MS; Bradley, Catherine MD, MSCE; Brandt, Debra RN, BSN; Women's Health Initiative (WHI)
"Some degree of prolapse is nearly ubiquitous in older women, which should be considered in the development of clinically relevant definitions of prolapse. Risk factors for prolapse differed depending on the definition of prolapse used."
stage I, 33.0%
stage II (at the vaginal opening), 62.9%
If you think we should make any changes, please let us know. Thanks for your observations.

Thanks Christine
I appreciate that you responded to curiosity's concern, but I see no reason to change the flyer! It doesn't matter what percentage of women is affected. What's important is that this is the best information those women can get, and we need to get it to them! I don't believe that quoting a percent and then footnoting the source (or not) has any impact on the credibility of this flyer. - Surviving

Thank you very much for responding Christine.
I agree that it doesn't matter what percentage of women are affected. I was concerned that the figure might be a distraction for those critically-thinking folk like myself, who see something like that, and think, I wonder where that came from, and where it's been verified etc etc, and whether the author is trying to exaggerate a claim. And then some of the original message is lost.

What a great way of reaching more women, thanks for the link. I personally find the reference to 80% very helpful as when I originally learnt that then I no longer felt I was a freek or so alone. I just could not comprehend the fact that no one in my long life had told me this info! Thanks Christine and Lanny for enlightening me. We r so lucky to live in the age of the internet .

I completely understand curiosity's point, but i disagree still. Think of the readers of this flyer:
Readers who are women's health professionals of any persuasion will already be fully aware of the epidemic of prolapse in modern society. It is not the statistic they will question, but rather Christine's alternative, anti-establishment approach, because it casts doubt on their ability to deal with the problem.
Readers who are prolapsed women are going to say to themselves, wow, this is a common condition and I'm not alone after all. I highly doubt that they (having prolapse themselves) are going to say, hhmmmmmm, I wonder where they got this number? - Surviving
