I'm new

Body:

I just found this site. I have been experiencing prolapse for about 8 months, and my doctor (family physician) has told me that there are devices on the market, which for most part "don't work" indicating that surgery is probably iminent. I'd like to avoid that, if at all possible.
I'm 60, but in better health now, than I was in 30's, 40's and my 50's, due mainly to losign weight, better diet and regular weight-bearing exercises. Except, for this prolapse situation.
I'm hoping to learn a lot from the book and video mentioned available on this site.

Welcome Jeanne, and I hope your time visiting this set of Forums is as rewarding for you as it has been for me. I was told I would need surgery sooner rather than later (like within the next twelve months!!), and have found that with a change of posture, and further attention to diet and exercise, surgery is now a distant shadow in the distance. Yes, I still have prolapses, but everything is not trying to fall out the way it was eight months ago, and its getting better bit by bit. All quite managable now, and I can't see that surgery will ever be necessary. I am much more comfortable about accepting my body the way it is, and being proud of what it has done in bringing three lovely children into the world.

I hope that you can regain confidence in your body's ability to adapt, and start feeling good about it again soon. You're in the right place for encouragement and TLC, that's for sure.

Cheers

Louise

Hi Jeanne

I'm sorry to hear about your prolapse and hope you find all the informaiton and support you need here and with the help of chirstines's books and video both of which were so very important for me and all of the other women here to help us to come to terms with the situation.

I have a urethracele or a cyctocele two different gyne's have disagreed on this lol but i think i've stabilised since last august, with lifestyle changes, the posture and excercises from the video and perhaps just as importantly my whole mind set has changed.

It's not too much of an exaggeration to say i was an emotional wreck for the first few weeks. But amazingly - t's just not really on my mind too often now 8 months later. Althought from time to time when *everything in life is getting on top of me i seem to thow it into the equation.

I think once you read christine's book you are unlikely to concur with the doc's idea that "surgery's gotta be imminant"

Best Wishes and Welcome again

I'm sorry you've developed a prolapse but happy you found this site. I've been here for about a year (give or take a month or two) and no longer consider surgery an option. at all.
