Sex and rectocele

Body:

I am 65 and post-menopausal. I'm having problem with sex and my rectocele.
Often, when having sex, especially in certain positions, I leak poop. Most unpleasant for my partner and me.
The only suggestion my doctor has given is using glycerin suppositories a few hour before sex. Helps a bit but what about being spontaneous?
Suggestions, please!

Hi Candy,
Are you currently working on the whole woman posture and practices? Pulling those organs forward will help in better symptom management. This includes pulling the rectum into better alignment, possibly helping you with this issue.
You should also make sure the pouch of your rectocele is empty by splinting it during bowel movements.
Others with rectocele may come on with more advice.

ok. I love suggestions. I'm new here so I need to find the info on the "whole woman posture and practices. Also will find out what "splinting" the pouch of my rectocele means! I'm sure info on both of these is here somewhere, and I search until I find it.
Thank you!

Hi Candy,
Start out by looking around this site to find out what whole woman is all about; especially look at the video on the home page with Christine explaining some of the important aspects of this work. Then go to the whole woman store where you will find all the products available to help you better understand this work. Many of us started out with the Saving the Whole Woman book and The First Aid For Prolapse DVD. There are also online versions of everything.

Splinting is where you insert two fingers and hold them against the posterior vaginal wall to help hold the rectocele flat during a bowel movement. You can put "splinting" into the search box to find more information. Also, if you put rectocele into the search box, you can find out more abou that too.

Please do take a look around and learn more about this very important work.

Hi Candy - I have cystocele and rectocele and I've been doing the WW work for 5-1/2 years. I haven't had this problem myself, but I think the best advice would be to work on getting your organs properly aligned as Aging Gracefully says. The posture correction goes a long way and extends to every aspect of your daily life. Try to avoid the sexual positions where you find this problem most likely to occur. You yourself might want to experiment with getting down on hands and knees and see how it feels to have the organs resting in the lower belly. This take the most pressure off your prolapse and may help you find the best position for sex. Getting the organs to move forward to their original position, is what WW is about, so do check it out. - Surviving
