Third degree rectocele, cystocele and uterine prolapse

Body:

Hello-

I am new to this forum after being diagnosed with third degree rectocele, cystocele and 2nd degree uterine prolapse in January. I ordered the Saving the Whole Woman book and have read it and started to reread it. I have done the lovely ballet moves and tried to practice the Whole Woman posture but as of late have felt so discouraged. It feels like the bulge is worse in the evening and I'm not sure I've been doing the posture correctly. I tried using a pessary prescribed by my doctor but its too large and is painful. I need help and encouragement to keep going on this journey instead of surgery. Any tips for how to improve the posture and stay on track would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi KBM and welcome. When I first started this work over 6 years ago, there were not so many products here to choose from. I worked with nothing but the book, for my entire first year. I got quite far into things that way, but eventually I needed more visuals and more direct encouragement! So I get where you are coming from.

I think you would benefit greatly from Christine's new Fundamentals videos. They are not expensive and they will give you the boost you need right now, I guarantee you. Read about them here:

This can seem like the start of a very steep climb at the beginning. One thing to remember is that there is no surgical "cure" for prolapse and you are on the right track learning to stabilize things naturally. WW posture is really just a return to the natural spinal shape we developed from the time we first stood up as toddlers. It never should have been lost.

Lots of encouragement here. You are not alone. Look around you and realize that the majority of women you see, have this condition, and many of them have compromised their pelvic organ support systems surgically in ways that cannot be reversed. Count your blessings that you're here, and keep the faith! - Surviving

PS: For a lovely dance-based workout and lots of background information, nothing beats the First Aid for Prolapse video. The Yoga series is fabulous, for variety. So keep reading, watching, and moving in WW posture!

Thank you for your lovely response. I will check into the other videos you mentioned. I don't want to give in to surgery as I do everything else naturally in my life. I appreciate your help!

Two years ago I was diagnosed with a small cystocele. Naturally, I read everything I could about it. Then I remembered reading Jane Fonda's book, Third Act where she talks about having vaginal dryness and she recommended an insert called Vagifem. At the beginning of my diagnosis, I was walking around with what felt like a peeled fresh lychee trying to escape from my vagina! But after using the Vagifem rectified that, and bought me time to begin performing my pelvic floor exercises. Losing belly fat helps with the cystocele and I've read where anal sex is off the menu, too - for those who like that! - if you have a rectocele. I wish you the very best of luck and admire you for going the natural route.

Hi Viewdemonde and welcome,
I am not sure if you are advertising here or not; could you tell us a little more about yourself and what brings you to whole woman?
Actually, honey is the best remedy for vaginal dryness, and it is natural and healthy for the body.
And pelvic floor exercises are really a no no also; read the many articles Christine has written about them here on this site.
Also, weight has nothing to do with prolapse, it's posture correction that is needed to help relieve the symptoms of prolapse.
Please do some reading around this site; it is eyeopening!

While anyone can register to post on this forum, you will have noticed on the Welcome page that our purpose here is to discuss the Whole Woman work and to help and support those who are interested in pursuing it. New members who start off posting unhelpful (or harmful) advice to others, won't necessarily get kicked off, but as Aging Gracefully says, please tell us why you're here and perhaps we can steer you down a better path to natural and safe prolapse management. - Surviving
