Question about others' experience with rectocele and the posture

Body:

Hi Everyone!

I'm dealing with a rectocele, and am learning the posture diligently! I am not opposed to splinting during bowel movements forever, but the symptom that is most bothersome is a feeling of needing to have a bowel movement throughout the day, even though I've already emptied my bowels. Did anyone have this issue and find the posture helped?

I don't have much protrusion into the vagina unless I'm having a bowel movement, but then it's pretty obvious. I'm just hoping the posture can help with this, because it's really difficult to go through the day constantly feeling like a bowel movement might happen!

Thanks!

Hi violin1 - the feeling of incomplete emptying is common with rectocele, and of course it's important never to strain, just keep to a healthy diet and whatever is in there will eventually come out! I used to have this issue pretty regularly, but don't anymore. Keep on track with posture and safe toileting practices. It will improve. - Surviving

It's good to hear your struggle with that changed. For me, if it doesn't come out, it sits in there and gets very difficult to get out. I think this is because my pelvic floor muscles are spasming and weak, but I'm not totally sure.

I even feel like I'm going to have a bowel movement throughout the day when I've completely emptied. Did that happen to anyone else?

Yes, rectocele can make you feel that way, it's the rectum bulging into the vaginal space. Different people would probably describe the sensation different ways. That will improve as the organs are trained forward. - Surviving
