I recently found your site and reviewed the last two newsletters. I'm confused about your recommendation for running to strengthen the butt muscles. How am I supposed to run with my bladder hanging out?

I just thought I'd let you know that I also had a VBAC and now have a cystocele and rectocele. I've been doing the posture since about mid March and I have really, really felt a big difference. I had nothing hanging out, but it felt like it was getting close! I had pressure in my lower belly and always felt like I had to lie down and everything felt kind of loose inside. I can honestly say that I hardly notice it at all anymore. (Of course some days are better than others.) But the posture really does work for me. By the way, I'm 43 so your body may respond even better than mine since you are so much younger. If you haven't already, take a look at the posture download from the home page. I'm not a runner. But I do use an eliptical trainer and recumbant bike every day and they are both quite comfortable if I am sitting or standing up straight. Hope this helps.

Am somewhat on track with Pam. I started this concept in March of this year and can honestly say I feel 110% better than I had in the last four years. One can hardly expect our body to return to pre-prolapse, but one can expect to be able to cope without the "hanging out" feeling, the pressure, or the pain. I experimented with this sensation, as the doctors will have you do, and that was to bear down while standing. I did that while in the "posture pose" and my insides had no place to go. They appeared to be above the pubic bone; there was no sensation of bulging, pressure or "falling out." WOW! I wonder where everything went.

I did not like to wear a pessary as I was concerned the constant in and out might compromise already thinning tissue; I wore a v-brace and found that most helpful when working in the garden or doing anything above and beyond what my daily job requires. I very seldom wear that now. I walk and just recently I bought an "easy rider" and have been working out on that.

My activity level has increased but what makes it nice is that I very seldom think 'prolapse.' I don't know about jarring exercise, i.e., running as being a good thing; I would find it hard to run in the "posture" and maintain accordingly. Fast walking is fine with me. Bsides, I find my knees are not forgiving of me when I request an activity seeming harsh given my age - 58. So I relinquish that desire and participate in gentler, although still aerobic in nature. I like the "feel good" I get from doing those activities.

I am sure, given reasonable time, you will also find that applying the principles here will allow you to engage in daily acitivites you enjoy. Once under the knife, it is almost virtually impossible to ask of your body a way that compliments all internal organs, espcially when some are missing, some are tacked. some are stuck and some plain rebel.
