Setback

Body:

The Whole Woman posture helped my prolapse right away. I have been amazed and so grateful that I discovered it and purchased the program. After a few months of just feeling absolutely great, my symptoms came back. I'm so disappointed. I'll look at the videos again and be more careful about my posture. I just wonder why this has happened. Has this happened to anyone else? Could you share what you did about it?

ChooseIt,
It is not uncommon to have setbacks, we have all had them. What matters is that we don't let it get us down, because we have the tools with the whole woman work to help us get back into that good place.
First, think about what you may have been doing that could have caused the set back, maybe not paying attention to posture, or doing activities that would make you fall out of posture, sitting or slouching in soft furniture. There are many things we can do to cause us to have a setback, so being mindful is very important.
To get started again, you can throw in daily jiggling and firebreathing as part of your routine, good strong whole woman walking is very helpful. I do the exercises daily, mostly because I enjoy them so much. Christine's yoga videos are very fun and relaxing.
Work on your toileting posture, making sure you are not straining against the seat.
There is so much you can do to get back to that good place, so, yes, go back over your materials, and you will have success again
Whole woman posture is for a lifetime.

the most important thing to understand about prolapse is that there is no "cure" in the conventional sense. once you have it, you have it for life.

that having been said, the issue is "do you control it, or does it control you?"

it is typical to have days that are better or worse symptom-wise. the fact that you experienced quick and powerful relief is great, other than the subsequent let down.

so now you have a more realistic understanding of this condition, you'll realize how essential the posture is to your well-being. it is not a one time thing. the posture means retraining your body for the balance of your life.

also important are the techniques like firebreathing when you need to get your organs to behave themselves and get back where they belong. to this day, once in a while when christine and i go for a walk, she may stop, put her hands on her knees and do a couple of firebreaths if her uterus is acting up.

the amazing thing is that given that her uterine prolapse was surgically induced by a bladder suspension, that she can control her prolapse at all.

so my advice is first, come to terms with the fact that prolapse will be around for the rest of your life. :-(

second, come to terms with the fact that you can control it, it doesn't need to control you. you have plenty of experience of this already. :-)

the truth is that once you have really internalized the root cause of your prolapse and made the necessary postural changes, you will discover that prolapse ceases to be much of an issue in your life. yes, it's always there to remind you to avoid the pitfalls of the culturally imposed and profoundly unnatural posture of tucking your bottom and pulling in your midriff.

the whole woman work is not a quick fix. it is a profound retraining of your body. the best way to approach your prolapse is to realize that this is your body's way of teaching you what it needs to support it's astonishing complexity and perfection. then you'll understand that it's not the enemy. it is your best friend, always there to remind you to stand tall, life the chest, relax the belly, pull up the back of the neck, feet pointed straight ahead as you walk. this feedback from your body will protect you from the host of ills that impact the lives of so many women as they age.

i hope this is helpful and encouraging. you have obviously done good work thus far, but the postural changes need to become your default posture for life. there is no "ok, i'm over it, on the the next thing."

nor are you alone. nearly all women will experience some level of prolapse in their lives. but it doesn't have to be painful or problematic.

being alive at all is a miracle. be full and joyful. in the scheme of things, there are many worse difficulties life might hand you.

all the best,

lanny (christine's DH)

Lanny hasn't posted on the forums in several years (to my recollection), but this was actually a customer service inquiry that he responded to a few days ago. He thought his exchange with ChooseIt would benefit other women, so asked if she would please re-post her question here so he could respond. Thank you ChooseIt!

If some women feel uneasy about a man being in our midst, I do apologize. It looks like Lanny is on the forum often, but he actually rarely reads a post. One of his duties is letting new members into the forum, which he must be logged in to do.

Hi there! I am a newbie at this site but I am sure glad I found it! I have looked around a little but really don't know where to find things. I have heard people mention Fire breathing and I have no idea what that is. I am also not understanding something about the Whole Woman posture. I get the connection between our bellies supporting our organs through proper exhalations and inhalations but the muscles in my lower abdomen are very weak. Would doing pelvic exercises to strengthen those muscles compromise the posture or breathing? I'd really appreciate some clarity with this regard.
Thanks so much!
