Fire Breathing Question

Body:

Hi again,

I see you offer classes & you even asked if I would be interested in holding a seminar over here in DC. Yes, DEFINITELY!! In the mean time however, do any of your classes show people how to correctly stand & breathe? Also, in you’re Fire Breathing post, you cautioned folks w/ BP issues. How can this work if you have flat feet or high b.p.? And what will happened if you have flat feet or high b.p. and start Fire Breathing ?

The fire breathing raises blood pressure when we forcefully exhale to create an intraabdominal vacuum, which is not a bad thing unless one has cardiovascular disease. Check with your doctor if that is the case.

The arches of the feet are a very important part of this work. Most of us have also lost the wide, triangular foot that our greatest grandmothers walked upon. Our core muscles are the ones that lift our legs when we walk and in doing so bring our legs and torso toward each other. It takes a lot to lift the weight of our legs and these core muscles can become permanently contracted - another factor in chronic spinal flexion. Strong and flexible foot arches rebound that energy when we walk and take some of the burden off the hip flexors.
