Rectocele Update

Body:

Hi All,

I was recently diagnosed with a Grade 1 Rectocele. At this time my Urogynecologist says no pessaries, no surgery and if I were to go into Physical Therapy, it would "send me over the top". The reason he says this is because I have low back problems with nerve pain. Anyway, doing exercises and such is what sent me to them in the first place. I was in severe pain with them. I had a proctogram done by the way and the barium backed up into the rectocele (no matter that I upped water, fiber, etc.) and caused me to go to the ER. So, two enemas and a pain shot later, the barium eventually came out. Of course this has really torn me up so here I sit in pain again. I know the rectocele is causing a bulge in the vagina and it hurts to sit. It feels as if I am sitting on a small ball. Also, the vaginal tissues are extremely irritated. Oh, and I have had a hysterectomy and my bladder is also not an issue. I was told by my ob/gyn to use Vagifem (estrogen) every day. But if I do that I tend to get a yeast infection which was also a complication of testing. I was also given some Proctofoam which is helping with the hemorrhoid I have had for a very long time. As it stands right now, I am using Vagifem twice a week along with an estrogen patch. I have and am "upping" the fiber, water and am taking a stool softener. I wish the Uro guy would go ahead and do surgery but he won't. And I am certain there are good reasons for saying no. But this thing will probably only get worse. So, does anyone know of any exercises I could do and NOT KEGELS? I was wondering if walking more would help or something light like that. Thanks!
