How do you sneeze

hi all,

Cedar fever is in full force now where I live and I'm sneezing up a storm and having to blow my nose. And advice on how to sneeze and blow my nose safest?

There is a section at the front under tips that says bend over slightly at the waist to protect the vaginal outlet from sharp increases in intraabdominal pressure.

I am suffering from a really bad cough again and find it incredibly difficulty to bend over every time especially when driving the car. I am just praying this is not making things worse but I can feel incredible pressure down there.

try slippery elm in tea or the throat lozenges for the cough....you can buy capsules and then open them in warm water and sip

Thanks Kimo. This is the second cough I have had in the last couple of months and they drive me nuts and I can't stop - I just cough cough cough.

I think the bending over at the waist thing is actually about bending over at the hip joints, firebreathing position (which will reinforce pelvic nutation, accentuate your lumbar curve and tighten your pelvic floor, so that gravity pushes your pelvic organs towards your belly button when you cough, rather than towards the vagina, which it will do if you bend over at the waist (which I think will reduce the firmness of the pelvic floor).

Coughing is just enforced, sudden exhalation, so it is not unlike firebreathing I guess, but it is very powerful (designed for removing foreign objects from the throat, breathing tubes and lungs). It is important to make the effort to guard you pelvic
floor as much as possible.

The urge to cough is almost un-ignorable, but you can train yourself to cough as little as possible. I have a theory that coughing is an irritant, and if you do it enough will produce mucous as a lubricant, which is why you eventually stop. The trick is to not start and to stop as soon as you can. Only breathe through your nose, which has the convolutions to warm and moisten the air, slow it down and remove irritants and germs. The throat does not have these abilities, except via the tonsils.

Drugs like paracetemol will help reduce the inflammation that starts it in the first place, the local anaesthetics in cough lozenges will numb the inflamed tissues. A humidifier while sleeping will moisten the air, particularly where winter or summer air is very dry.

Then there are all the cough suppressants. Some, like codeine are very powerful, but when you have been coughing for weeks and weeks and you have a damaged pelvic floor, I think it is worth bringing out the big guns to knock it on the head for the wellbeing of your pelvic floor. It might also be worthwhile asking your family doctor about going onto asthma drugs for a short period of time to break a vicious irritation/inflammation/cough cycle.

That was how I finally worked out that I had asthma all my life. I now don't get it at all because I have been taught Buteyko Breathpower techniques, so I now breathe slower and through my nose.

Consult a pharmacist before mixing your drugs, or a natural health practitioner before combining natural remedies.

I am asthmatic which is probably why they last so darn long and I have to increase my dosage of medication during the bad periods. When I am at home I try to get on my knees and elbows before having a coughing fit but no matter what I do I can still feel the pressure on my pelvic floor. I find that if I am sitting in posture and I start coughing if I lean slightly to one side I don't feel any bulginess/pressure down there but if I am just sitting straight up then lots and lots of bulging and pressure! I don't know why it makes a difference when leaning to the side.

Its just a dry viral type cough but it is very irritating and I can feel a constant tickling in my chest. I know antiobiotics will not work for this type of cough.

I will go to the chemist later and see what I can get, unfortunatly my car broke down this morning so I haven't gone anywhere today and it is raining and windy out there so didn't fancy walking any distance.

Hopefully it won't last much longer.

If I am sat down I also bend forward to sneeze.

If I am stood up then - I freak cos I am not sat down.

But

I was told something that amazingly really does help me...

You feel a sneeze coming - ARGH
Youput a finger under your nose and press UP (not painfully but definite up-press)

I dunno if this will work on anyone else but 90% of the time it stops the sneeze and I don't sneeze at all - Which is cool.

Try it - I would love to know if it helps anyone else but me.

Hmm, I blow my nose, which is a little gentler on the PF than sneezing, and seems to stop the sneeze mid-tingle. L

Wild cherry bark tincture works great for a cough....I remember years ago about slippery elm being endangered but that might have changed...
