What can you do at the gym for a dropped bladder and uterus?

Hi-
i am new here and 58 years old- in good shape except for my bottom - i go to the gym but now my obgy said exercising is dropping everything- she said take the uterus out and lift the bladder- I am scared- so I will continue with the bike and treadmill- I can't do my stepper anymore- any suggestions?

I think the stepper is probably a great exercise if you can use the posture while stepping. It is low impact and strength building and uses the large muscles in the legs which burns calories well.......

I mean the bike - you are supported by the seat right?
The treadmill - If walking would do this then just living life would unless you spend your entire life sta down...

I would hope that exercise would not make everything drop. And even if it did I would not have a Hysterectomy etc

The drop is quite severe- not linking any urine- they just want to take uterus out and lift bladder.
I have panic attacks and this isnot helping it.
My girlfriend had it done and now she is leaking-confused-
Yes, I am supported by the seat on the bike- so much for walking-

A fellow panic attack sufferer here too and no this condition does not help. Have you tried TFT (Thought Field Therapy) another version of it is EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). I use TFT and so far I have managed to calm down when one is coming. They are horrible and such a vicious circle.

I am sorry I can't help you with the exercise side of things and am hoping Christine or the other more active ladies might have some good suggestions.

No, I take klonopin to help me and have never used EFT- I know thoughts trigger them-
but I was told I have a chemical imbalance- thanks for listening.

Hi Nunz,

There is no short-cut way to talk about these subjects because they are based on the anatomy of pelvic organ support, which is a long story. That is why I produced the book and dvd. Proper exercise is critical to living well with prolapse and as Alemama just suggested, you can do many things as long as you do them while holding your body correctly.

There is no such thing as "lifting the bladder". There is only colporrhaphy, which removes part of the front vaginal wall so that the bladder is squeezed away from it; or colporrhaphy with a mesh implant positioned between the two organs. Both of these surgeries carry high failure rates and risks for other, more serious maladies while the original problem, prolapse, remains.

I know it's a lot to assimilate at first, but the bottom line is, only you can make the difference.

If there is no problem with your uterus - Why does he want to remove such a vital organ? (not just for having babies etc)

I dont understand why walking on a treadmill could be worse than say walking round the shops? You are still walking.

I think Gynaes alot of the time try to bamboozle us into thinking they are God and we assume they know everything and just accept their word as law...

I dunno. Personally unless it was cancerous or something I would prefer to keep my uterus.

I have heard of mess repair- they make it sound like nothing and what is the
posture thing about? My doc said to remove the uterus because it has dropped and
I don't need it anymore - I am 58.
What a wreck I am!!!!

I agree with that 100% I'm keeping everything I can! God gave us things for a reason, so unless it's diseased it's staying in!! Nancy

The whole woman posture is a way of holding your body that helps stabilize the prolapses.
Go to the home page under FAQ, scroll down to questions 11 and 12 and you will find an explanation there.
Also peruse the posts and you will read about how the posture has helped many of us.
Do ask all the questions you want and some one will try to answer them.
We were all wrecks until we found this forum.

Very uncomfortable - had a urine test no infection thank God-
just this is on my mine all the time - am I the only one like this-
if I get the operation - will I feel better and not have to worry about
leakage and this dropped bladder.

Well, you might feel like a wreck now, but at least you are a wreck with all its parts. It is very difficult to put a wreck back together if all the bits are not there.

Actually I think I would feel like a wreck too if I had just heard all that stuff about hysterectomies, and not needing your uterus from a very well-qualified medical specialist, in fact I did when I was given the same advice over three years ago (at the age of 52) and chose to ignore him. What a load of Bull&%#@ he told me. How dare he!! I am just so glad you have found this site too. I have a feeling that you will no longer feel like a wreck in a couple of years. There is a lot of information to absorb, and a lot of things you can learn to do for yourself to get this prolapse thing to be manageable, and still be whole. If after a couple of years you want to reconsider surgery you can, but you can never get your uterus back if your have the hyst. and it all goes pear-shaped after surgery, leaving you no better off, and carrying a lot of scar tissue as well.

Wholewoman techniques will not cure POP, but surgical procedures don't cure it either. However, there are a lot of adjustments that happen in your head as you learn about your body and become confident that everything will not just fall out. The fear eventually evaporates, and can be replaced by a real feeling of power and love for your experienced and clever body.

I hardly notice it any more, and know what I have to do if it all starts drooping.

kegel exercises and how often are you suppose to those?
