The Business of Being Born

Body:

Have you all heard about this movie? I just stumbled onto it during my evening rant of searching on the internet for how things could have been different during my births.

It is showing in Palm Desert, CA; Tulsa, OK; Huntington, NY; Omaha, NE (yea - this is where I am); and Seattle, WA.

I am absolutely going to see it. I'm glad I stumbled onto it before it was gone from my town. I can't believe how I just found it and it is here starting today. Wow - very fortuitous.

I hope you enjoy the film. I personally cannot watch things like that now as just watching the trailer I can feel the anger building inside me. I know its films like this that are needed to raise awareness but its too late for me and I am still very angry about everything that happened to me and now I live with the consequences.

Let us know what you think when you have seen it.

It IS, indeed, too late for us to change how we birthed our own babies---even God cannot change the past. When I find myself thinking about "if only"---I try to remember that even though it's too late for this kind of information to help US---it's not too late for it to help our daughters (if we have them.) That snaps me right back to reality. I have two daughters. My oldest has a nine month old baby and I've been talking to her about prolapse, etc. ever since I got checked out. (My mother never talked to me about ANYthing and it's always been my goal to be a better mother than the one I had...)

It's empowering to use this information to stop it from happening to another woman, be it friend or daughter. (NOT that I don't still have my own issues with it---but thinking about others keeps me off the pity-pot~smile~) Education is power...
