i did a search but couldn't find any past threads... what pressure or added strain am i putting on my pelvis by using slings daily. i use varies slings for the occassion but overall i would use a back carrier and mai tei the most so there is that restrictions around my waist, i do not want to not use slings

one of my favorite obsessions!

when my baby was little (like yours) I did just fine with just about anything. slings, wraps, meitai. no matter. I did my best to stay in posture and really, found no detriment to the prolapse.
now that he's a bit bigger (11 mo and over 20 lb) I find it most comfortable to wear him on my back, either in a wrap or meitai. I don't find that the carrier compresses my belly too much. actually, I tend to tie it high, like right under my ribcage, because I have a long torso and my nosy boy likes to see over my shoulder.
I do wear him in slings (or in a hip carry with a wrap) for quick in-and-out of the car errands, but if I wear him too long that way, I feel it later. mostly in my back, shoulder and hip, but sometimes I do feel 'bulgier' too. it all feels better the next day though.

and that's something you will learn about prolapse. once you get a handle on it, you will see that even if you do something to aggravate things, you can pretty much always get back to your baseline.

so go ahead, wear your baby! they get big so fast. pretty soon they're running a block ahead of you. these are the days to savor. don't let the prolapse take it away from you.

It depends on the person I think because even if I carried my first daughter for a very short time on my front I felt my prolapse much worse. I am so happy though because I got an ergo carrier recently and put second baby on my back and it doesn't make my prolapse feel worse yahoo!!!!!

Can you share the brand name of wraps you have used that you can carry an older baby on your back? I love my Ergo, but unfortunately it seems to place pressure on my pelvic area and cause me discomfort prolapse-wise every time I use it. I guess I need one that fastens higher. The Ergo fastens right below the belly button on me. I am short, maybe I am wearing it wrong?

I have a didymous wrap that I use in a 'ruck carry', and a sacchi mei tai, and I also made myself a mei tai, a 'scandi' knockoff, which, imo, is the most comfortable for back carries.

could be my luck that I have a long torso, so I can tie right under my ribcage and still have plenty of room in the belly for the pelvic organs!

I've never used an ergo, so I can't say much about them, but check out thebabywearer.com. those mamas know everything!

I vary between carrying on my back and on my front, the little boy is 24lb at 8 months so about the size of your average 18 month old really. I find it much easier to carry him on my back in the house than to keep picking him up and putting him down, especially now he is crawling..
I use a wrap mostly as it is the most versatile in getting it to fit just how you want and I tie it above my waist at the ribcage. there are a few back carries that dont even require a waist band and still others that spread the weight across your torso putting very little on your shoulder, making it easier to pull up into a comfortable posture. it takes a bit of experimentation but is worth putting the effort into imo.

with the mei tai, start by tieing the waist high at your ribcage and then work on getting the straps as tight as possible and see if that helps.

Try to wear it way way low- so that the buckle is right at the pubic bone. Works great for me-

I also wear my ergo low on my hips so it is not pressing on my stomach (how the women in on the demonstration cd wears it because she is pregnant :)
