Exercises for abdomen

Body:

I've scanned through the topics and purchased Saving the Whole Woman and I'm working on the exercises in the book. My cystocele was diagnosed about a year ago. It doesn't bother me, for the most part, except when it's peeking through and I can feel the bulge. I wanted to know if there are any exercises that we can do that are good for strengthening and toning the abdomen. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you all, Janan

what is your current level of fitness? The exercises in the book are pretty good for an ab workout - especially the leg lifts. You will also find the firebreathing works the abs well. I recently described an ab exercise I like to do and that does not bother my prolapse. It is the plank. You get on your elbows (forearms and hands) and toes- keeping your hips up off the ground and hold it- Also the exercise in yoga called Nauli will work your abs well- and it has an added benefit for me of pulling up my pelvic organs. You can search that term here and read all about it.

Thanks for the information, alemama, I will follow up on what you've advised. There is no better source for information than those who have tried exercises and have found out what works. It is also so great to find out I'm not alone in this condition and knowing I can, hopefully, avoid surgery and live comfortably with this situation is a major plus for me. Thank you again, Janan

When you are in the position for the plank, how long do you hold this position and how many times do you complete this exercise. Want to do enough but don't want to over do. Thanks for your help.
