Questions

Body:

I am so glad I found this site, my doctor who I trust very much sent me to an obgyn for my prolapse (cystocele, rectocele as well as Uterine), constipation and severe abdominal pain. I have had five or six episodes of severe abdominal pain for 20-30 minutes each time since early February. I had a CT scan and colonoscopy which showed nothing. The obgyn thinks it's either endometriosis or interstitial cystitis (sp?) for which she wants to do a test. I have no "normal" symptoms of endometriosis or interstitial cystitis...She highly recommends a laparoscopy to inspect the uterus, and said that we would have to remove the uterus to fix the prolapse...I will do ANYTHING to keep my insides intact. So, my questions are as follows:

1. Could these painful episodes be a symptom of the prolapse? They sem to occur most often right after I urinate, sometimes with a bowel movement, but not always. The pain is a very strong ache just behind/above the pubic bone.

2. You mentioned that prolapse surgery does not require removal of the uterus, can you give me some information I can share with her regarding this procedure?

3. You mentioned somewhere that the book and/or video are out of date? Should I purchase them or wait until something comes along? I am pretty desparate for help at this point and really do not want to have surgery.

4. I am an avid runner, biker and hiker. (although I have not run much in the last year.) Can I hope to remain physically active in the future?

I am so glad to have found this site and to have options besides surgery. Thanks for all your work.

Hi Tammyd, I read your letter! I wouldn't attempt to answer though! Christine is always prompt with the forum so hang in there! I found this site less than 2 months ago and she has helped me. And a lot of the others here share similar stories on their prolapse. Most of us have declined any surgery since prolapse is not a life threatening issue! Good Luck, Nancy;-)

Hi Tammy,

I talk about prolapse in very general terms here, as I have no idea what anyone

I just wanted to add that I feel like the exercises in the book and video are helpful. First of all they give an empowering feeling of taking charge of one's own health and secondly, the one where you are on all fours and then lift one leg up, kicking the heel towards the ceiling always puts my organs back into place. If I have no time for anything else, that is the one I do.

just another question. i have pretty constant nausea. i thought this feeling was my stomach healing from a bacteria i had back in april but it is just continuing. just wondered if anyone else has encountered this along with their prolapse??? keeping up the biking here, it's going pretty good. mel
