Female anatomy video about hysterectomy

Body:

Hi All

Check out this video “Female Anatomy: the Functions of the Female Organs” (available at http://www.hersfoundation.org/anatomy/index.html). It is all about what happens when you have a hysterectomy.

HERS Foundation is about "Hysterectomy Educational Resources and Services".

While you are there you might like to sign their Petition which is calling for legislation to ensure that women signing up for hysterectomy receive full information about all the implications of having their uterus removed. This is USA only, I believe, but if you are in another country it is likely that similar petitions will be released elsewhere. I guess anyone can start one.

I guess if you don't know the right questions to ask if a hysterectomy is suggested by a doctor, you have no way of knowing that there is stuff that you don't know, that you need to know (if that makes any sense at all!)

Christine has detailed all this stuff a million times, but sadly all women do not know about all the risks, and exactly what is done during hysterectomy.

Cheers

Hey Louise!
I am a newbe as well (only hours old) and wish I had this information 10 years ago! I am now trying to obtain information on non-surgical treatments for women who have had hysterectomies with prolapse. Will the pessary would for me? Have begun the exercises....unless it is life threatening, I really do NOT want the surgery. Thank you for ANY help in furthering my research to make an informed choice about my body.
Deborah

So glad you found it. Sorry the timing was too late, but that is why the HERS Foundation was set up, to inform women before they innocently and blithey assent to this major surgery. Pass the link on to any others you hear about who are thinking of hysterectomy. See my other post re exercise and posture.

Cheers

Louise
