successful ride

Body:

Hey, Qtrpony:

Are things going okay for you? I thought of you because I went riding today. I got on the old bouncy quarter horse this evening and had a grand time. We did a little trail riding (walk & trot) and then some walk, trot, and canter through a field. I used my internal support device (tampon). So far, so good, though I'll take it easy and do more WW exercises the next few days. It felt so good to be on a horse again.

You know, if this really is a problem made worse by high impact sports like riding, you think we'd be hearing cautionary stories in the media. Think of how many women and girls ride horses, run, play basketball or tennis, or do any number of vigorous sports. Anyway, I had fun today and thought I would pass that along.

Take care,
Saddleup

Spot on, Saddleup! Glad you are taking your first tentative and joyful steps at riding again. I can see that you are now more confident to make judgements yourself about what your body can take, and how to do it.

Yes, the people who put out warnings about health and sport have a lot to learn! It is not just long distance running that can be risky. The moral of the story is to learn about your body and listen to it. Think about what you are doing, and don't rely on the warnings of others to tell you what is damaging. With Wholewoman work we have to studiously ignore all the advice we have ever had about a large lumbar curve putting strain on the lower back. After half a lifetime of lower back pain, I for one no longer have lower back problems since doing Wholewoman posture for four years. There has been some pain on the way to this pain free state, but I am now there, and very grateful to Christine for turning my health thinking on its head! I think for myself now.

Cheers

Louise
