Pausing to reflect on all that I am thankful for ...

WHOLE WOMAN!!! Thank you, Christine, for your tireless work and devotion!

Thank you to all of you -- I learn so much here and am encouraged to live well, perhaps better than before.

Wishing you all a blessed Thanksgiving.

Thank you for all the information about lichen sclerosis on this site. I am new to this site but encouraged to hear from others who suffer with ls. I suffered with the symptoms of ls for 2 years before being diagnosis with it 2 months ago. After being diagnosed steroids were recommended as the treatment of choice. I have always been into natural foods and healing so went to a naturopath who did many different tests - food allergies, checked my adrenals and tested hormone levels. Mostly she found that I was very low in estrogen. I have now been using a bioidentical estrogen cream 2 x's per day, taking daily doses of dhea and other vitamins. I am also trying to decrease my stress levels but haven't been very successful on that level. The hormone cream doesn't seem to be helping any other than making the vaginal area moister and some what plumper. I'm considering using the steroid cream that the regular MD recommended. I am though very concerned about the side effects of using it. Anyone out there have any other ideas or recommendations. Thanks Deanna

Hi Deanna

I don't have LS but I am right in the thick of peri/menopausal vaginal and vulval dryness, and I would rather not have to apply artificial hormones and have to remember to do it regularly. I have found Wholewoman Balms really soothing. They are great for reducing the rubbing and chafing that sometimes happens with prolapsed organs. These balms are great because they melt at body temperature so they just glide on without pulling the skin, but are semi-solid and manageable at room temperature. It has to get darned hot for them to liquefy at room temperature! It occasionally happens where I live, but not often. I haven't had a serious spill yet!

I use Bliss Balm whenever I need it on an as-needs basis and for sex. Vulva Balm if my vulva gets irritated and Peri Balm if my perineum gets sore.

Since I have been using Bliss Balm I have found that my perineum and vulva have felt much better too, so I haven't needed the other two balms much at all.

Hope you can pull your body through this LS thing OK.

Cheers

Louise

...Happy Spring!!! :)

Thanks Louise for the information regarding Whole Woman balms - will check them out to find out more. I have been using 100% shea butter and have found that it helps but the butter melts and I have to keep applying more during the day. Thanks for your suggestion. Deanna

It is late spring here in Western Australia and we have had a lot of unseasonal rain in the last month. Farmers are trying to harvest cereal crops in our area and are being seriously hampered by the damp conditions. It is annoying and expensive for them because every day the crops are still in the head there is a risk of further rain that will stain the grain, or even sprouting in the head, which downgrades it. This is all on top of a late starting planting season and devastating frosts late in September.

However, even the farmers begrudgingly accept that that our gardens are looking spectacular during November, when they would normally be drying off and requiring extra watering. The roses have been amazing this year, going on and on.

All the native trees and shrubs are looking especially green and lush, and will be storing water away for the six dry months ahead. The birds that visit our garden have hatched so many chicks. Let's hope they can all survive. Spring is indeed a time of life, especially this year, when it has been long enough to enjoy, before the drought of our summer.

Every cloud has a always a silver lining. Give thanks for that silver lining when the clouds are dark.

Louise

ps I love our hot, dry summers. No weeds can grow!!!

It is fun to have a day off of work to be together with family and count our blessings.
We have had a lazy day. I didn't even cook and am looking forward to Saturday when we gather with extended family for our "traditional" meal of fresh fish and deer.
I am thankful for the world wide web and my global support network.
Thank you all for being here.
And thank you Christine for your work. It is simply amazing to have an alternative to surgery.

Where do I get the amazing Whole Woman balms that you speak of? Is there anyone who is currently doing the steroids to control the symptoms of LS? Any other advice? Deanna

Hi Deanna

Go to www.wholewoman.com and follow the purple link to the Wholewoman Store. They are not available anywhere else.
