Rectocele - exercise search

Body:

I have been so grateful for the exercises in your book & video. I am learning so much about my body & strenthening the pelvic floor. I need more exercises specifically to pull the rectum back. Kegels and most of the exercises are pulling it forward. Is there a way to strengthen the anococcygeal ligament?
My body seems tobe changing a lot as I am going through menopause. My clitoris shrunk
and my sacrum felt deformed. I developed nerve pain in my sacrum & legs, then bowel movements became shooting nerve pains thru my whole spine as if my head would blow off. Then I felt and saw skin from my vagina protruding out. The ob/gyn said I have a stage 3 rectocele. All this happened in a 3 month time frame! I never had children, but had botched hymenectomy at 13 by an incompetent ob/gyn which he told my ignorant mother had to be 'vaginal plastic surgery'.I'm sure this compromised the wall of my vagina. I am a BodyWorker of 25 years and student/teacher of the Alexander Technique. All that I learn from my experiences always helps my clients. But I have a long road yet with this one. There is too much achey nerve pain to go on my beloved walks, tho I can go 8 blocks as of yesterday.
I'm sure I can pull that rectum back into place and then heal the rectovaginal septum and perineal body. Surely something can affect the anococcygeal ligament for starters. Any help there?
So many thanks,
Jane

Dear Jane,

I

Hi Christine,

I have two questions about the exercises you described.

When you bend from the waist, where do you rest your arms? On a chair? On your hips? (I couldn't visualize what you mean.)

When you do the raises on just one foot, is it in the standing or bent-over position?

I love your exercises. They are so helpful! Thanks for explaining.

Naomi

Hi Naomi,

Whatever height is comfortable for you. You can fold your arms at the elbow and rest them on a table or countertop or you can stand on a stairway, bend over at the waist, and rest them on the stair at the level most comfortable for you. I'm pretty limber and like to find a rock or log when I'm walking to place my hand on for toe raises.

The one-footed raises I was describing from a standing position.

;-)Christine

p.s. Thank you so much, Naomi! It probably won't surprise you that I'm working on a whole new movement program for women that is somewhere in between yoga and dance.

Hi Christine,

Do you plan to put your yoga/dance program on video so we can all learn it? (I hope so!)

Naomi

Certainly! That's a project probably for early next year though, as I have my hands full getting this center started.

Dear Christine,

Thank you for your prompt & thorough reply. It is such a relief to be heard, & to be heard by someone with compassion & knowlege is such a blessing. I am so grateful.

I have immediately added the different versions of toe raises. I can do them all day long.
I put a basket under my feet to raise them up when I sit onthe toilet. I agree that straining was the final straw my insides could not handle. You suggestion of standing up as an alternate to squating which can get messy is great.

The quality of my skin has changed so much as I am going thru mena pause. That includes the skin inside my vagina. Whatever sewing together of my vaginalwall was done has undone itself. The clueless Doctor tried to give me a whole different opening! My ob/gyn
suggested premarin cream. I have not wanted to take anything that would alter my already hard to decifer hormonal rollercoaster. I just started useing castor oil, which my body loves, on the perineum & inthe rectum before I go to sleep. Edgar Cayce was right on with that stuff. I use it on my eyes & a wrist injury I had.

There are other things I am doing that are helping. Your book/video exercises & encouraging words are the foundation of this healing process for me. The posture of the sacrum & lumbar curve is key. I strive to get that curve back again. Since I can't go on my long walks yet my back seems to really like lying on my back & bicycling. I am getting accupuncture for prolapse which is great & taking herbs that I canfeel helping. Let me know if you would like more info.

To be continued. It's late & I'm tired. I so want to thank you for being so available.
I too am hungry for all the movements & exersises you come up with!

pleasant dreams!

Jane

Sweet! I take it that you declined the Premarin - hope so!
