There is HOPE and LIFE for the Post Partum!!!

Body:

I thought I would get on here and post about my amazing healing after childbirth. I appreciate this forum soooo much. You have no idea how common prolapse is and no one even talks about it. If you track me you can see my first posts. Anyway, here I am 7 months post partum and I just went hiking with my baby on my back. I can camp, chase my boys round the yard, give piggy back rides, and do lots of other things and never even notice any problems. I tried running the other day....maybe won't do that for a while. But even with that, I only felt hangy for a few hours. I want to tell all new moms out there, just relax. This is not the end of life as you know it!! Rest, give your body time to heal. Since my body seemed to heal well, I simply rely on the stomach vacuum and Kegels to keep things in place. Although I think if things had gotten worse I might be more inclined to change more as suggested on this site. Thanks to you all for your words of encouragement! This doesn't rule my life and I am sorry I worried so much about it in the beginning. I have also been doing physical therapy and having my husband who is a D.O. adjust me, those things help as well. Best wishes to you all in your journey down this road of prolapse!

I also wanted to say that the physical thereapy sounds a lot like the things mentioned here on this site. Keeping your hips in alignment and then the stomach vacuum, as I call it, coupled with a hard kegel...is simply amazing. I can suck it all back up in and feel the air enter and exit the vagina ( I think alemama mentioned that once?). The therapist I have is great, and she NEVER mentioned surgery! All these things I do to maintain even though I don't feel the cystocele any more. The therepist said I was a "pro" and all thanks to the info from this site!!!

Hey Proudmama

It is lovely to hear that your postpartum healing has gone well. It does happen a lot. We just don't usually read about it here! Thanks for posting it. My guess is that you will get around to running later.

Interesting that your therapist didn't mention surgery. Her world view is physical therapy. Gynos and Ob Gynos have a surgical world view. Often they don't even mention physical therapy. Sometimes having a skewed view can be very helpful, because it doesn't plant doubts in women's minds.

Cheers

Louise

Wow! Thanks for sharing! It gives all of us postpartum mommies hope! I go see my PT on Monday. She had talked about postural retraining, so I'm going to find out if she has the same philosophy as Christine!
