Shoes

Body:

Does anyone know if the new type of shoe that helps work your muscles interferes with the whole woman posture? Since I am new with this problem, web site, and posture, I cannot tell if they help or hurt the posture.

What about heels?

Thanks any and all comments.

Louise has posted about MBTs, also a link to a website that was rather disparaging about them. I had been wondering about buying a pair also and then I saw Louise's post and decided to hold off, so you could do a search on it. Jackie seems to like hers. I suppose that, like everything, it comes down to everyone being different anatomically eg foot arches, shape of spine etc

i have a friend with a bad back who swears b MBT's--but says the posture they promote is opposite to WW. So, i think you'd want to have a good walk round a shop before you decide...

Heels--i wear them for dancing, not too high but there none the less, and as long as i'm very concious of posture don't notice a difference. but, that is a couple hours once a week--and i'm not walking anywhere etc. otherwise, i avoid them like the plague--i want shoes that let me walk well and cushion my body, and help me feel stable enough to really feel the posture. but, i think you just need to experiment slowly and see how shoes go... i thought flip flops--even cushioned ones-- would be a disaster, but finally tried them just round teh garden and for short walks--absolutely fine. so hard to know...

I was walking by an MBT store just yesterday and saw their DVD about proper walking. I dunno, I'd miss the stability of my feet. And Christine says so much about the importance of our feet arches, it makes so much sense to me. In those shoes everything would go instable. But this is just my opinion, maybe I am totally wrong.

Next time you visit somebody in hospital check out the nurses' footwear. I think you will find that many of them wear MBT's. Watch the way they walk and ask them how they find them.
