SPECIALIST POP PHYSIO IN WEST YORKSHIRE UK

Since I discovered my bulge on 17th February (and felt desperately upset by it) I have enormously appreciated the support, fellow feeling and advice I have found on this site - above all from the outstanding Louiseds. But it has been a lonely journey. The GPs I saw knew very little, the hospital "specialist" much less. I had to find everything out for myself. At my request the NHS provided me free with a ring pessary, topical oestrogen, glycerol suppositories, and I am grateful. But a physio to advise on which forms of exercise and excercises might be more or less harmful - no. I combed the internet for a physio who could advise me. Physios who specialise in POP are rare as hen's teeth.

At last I found Sue, who has only just retired from years of working with women in the NHS and set up in private practise where she can give more time to her patients. The article above focusses most on post partum sexual problems, but having reached retirement age (though she doesn't look it) Sue is equally empathic and experienced in helping post menopausal women like me.

Sue works in the village of Ripponden, Calderdale, West Yorkshire UK,xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Ripponden is a lovely old village (with great tea shop) and a pleasure to visit. I went by train and bus - there are excellent public transport links to Leeds, Manchester etc.

I had better say that I am not employed as a publicist, I just want women in this part of the world to know that they don't have to soldier on all alone.

Sue Brook's telephone number is: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
email: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

EDIT: Hi Alix, Hope you don't mind our taking out some specific personal information, as it could breach Sue's privacy if published on the Web. I would ask that Members email you via the Contact Form if they want those details. Best wishes, Louise.

Alix, have you talked to Sue about Wholewoman, ie posture and why it works? If so, how did she respond? If not, it would be great if you could run it past her. From the article in the Halifax Courier she looks like just the sort of practitioner who would be likely to take it on board.

Cheers

Louise

Sue already knew about the Wholewoman site when I met her and had seen one of Christine's books, brought to her by a patient. I hope it would be fair to her to say that she sees the Wholewoman posture etc as AN answer but not THE answer. However she is the opposite of doctrinaire. I have only had one (very long) session with her - may be able to report further after my 2nd in about 3 weeks.

Cool.

Louise, I did check with Sue before posting her phone number and email, and she's happy with that. (I didn't check the content of my post with her, as it's just my opinion, even if I have got anything wrong.) I'd rather you would put the info back if possible, but if that's against the site's regulations, I'm happy to give it to people who contact me. I'm not sure why there are some xxxs after "Ripponden" - perhaps they strayed there by mistake?

Hi Alix

It wasn't my decision alone to remove the specifics. Good to hear that Sue gave her permission to post the details.

It is fine for Members to give practitioners good testimonials if you have found them to be particularly helpful. But we do stop short of publishing all the identifying information we can, because that is advertising, and we do not want the Forums to become like Classified Ads. ;-)

There is enough information in the URL and other details in your post for any person to find Sue, without knowing her personal phone number and email address, and knowing where she lives. As you have your email enabled, that means that nobody is denied any contact information, even with her home location, phone no and email address xxxed out.

It is a fine line, I know. We do need to allow information and resources that has proven useful to Members to be freely available, but do it in a way that does not encourage commercial interests to think that they can get free advertising on the Forums, which periodically happens, and is a pain for those who keep the Forums clean. Your post is no different from any other that has been edited. This sort of thing doesn't happen very often, and the reason may be that we keep the Forums basically Ad free.

We have to remember that this is the WWW, where people will get away with what they can. It's like a family, or close group of friends to us, but it is open to all of cyberspace to read as well.

I hope you find this explanation satisfactory. No offense intended, and we're not pickin' on ya.

Cheers

Louise

That's fine, Louise, I wish I'd known the rules before (are they listed anywhere?). I have had the experience on 2 forums I frequented of being invaded by spammers, and it felt horrible. In one case it lead to the demise of the site, which was really sad. So I do see the point. I'd like to say again that I didn't consult Sue at all about the wording of my post, only as to whether it was alright to give her contact details. She doesn't know what I wrote unless she has visited the site. I probably wouldn't have written so much, but it was such a struggle (for a long time in vain) to find someone specialising in POP, I didn't want other people to miss out unnecessarily.

Thanks for the technical info on searching. It's a bit over my head but I'll try.
