Feeling Good! (PP Update)

Body:

Hello lovely ladies. I have seen a few pp women here who want to run but are concerned with how that will affect their POP's. Well, I have been experimenting with working running back into my life and wanted to share how things are going...

Refresher: A bit over 5 weeks pp with my first baby, "mild" cystocele & perhaps a bit of a rectocele. I was told I had a mild uterine prolapse as well at 8 weeks pp, but that seems to have gone right on up (YAY!). I came here completely distraught and an emotional wreck!

At about 3 months pp I started feeling really good in my day-to-day activities so I got back into a regular exercise routine--mostly walking and elliptical with some core work. I kept feeling better and better, so about a month ago I tried a one mile jog and it felt AMAZING! I had SO missed that feeling--even though I ran at the pace I used to warm up at. I have been seeing a PT and told her about my little jogging experiment, and we worked up a jog/walk plan for me to SLOWLY build back up to running.

I am pleased to report that for the past 3 weeks I have been walking/jogging 3 miles 3-5 times a week (increasing the jogging very slightly each week). Pre-pregnancy me would NOT have been impressed with this, as I was training for a marathon before my pregnancy, but the new me is overjoyed. I believe I will be able to continue to build on this and compete again in races (although I think I'll skip the marathons) and triathalons.

Wow, this is long. I just wanted to say I am feeling great, back to my pre-pregnancy weight, thinking WAY less about my "bulge," and loving life. I have really come to a place of acceptance and peace with this that I never thought possible. A lot of that is because I have seen what my body is capable of doing and that I'm not a fragile being--just a more careful one! Thanks to you all for being a part of this process for me. This website has been truly encouraging and so informative! Blessings to you all!!

Thanks for the update. Great to hear that you are running again.

so glad to hear this. thanks for the update--and the inspiration.
keep us updated!

Wonderful news Mzimm.

This improvement seems to have happened quite quickly once you got really stuck into what you had to do. Just get on with your life, accept the occasional setback as temporary and call back with further progress later.
