Need Help with Tampon as Pessary

Body:

Hi Everyone,

It's a not so great a day with prolapse... My one and only experience with a tampon as a pessary for the prolapse was good and bad. I felt great, until I had to remove it. I am 65 years young and it was sooo dry, I thought my insides were going to follow. I have since learned soaking and wringing the tampon with water is a good first step and using KY jelly as well is better still?? But how do I insert this tampon, now that it is out of it's applicator? As well, has anyone used the Tampax PEARL brand (they really flair out)and how do you find them. Should I only be considering the Sport brand?

You are all so wonderful here...gives me much support.
Diane

When I used a tampon as a pessary, I would apply lubricant to the tampon and use my finger to insert it as far as my finger would allow. If I wanted it further, I would use the tube to help it up. Then, I would use the tube to guide it until it moved sideways, being careful not to lose the string. I did all of this on my back on the bed. Only use one half of the tube, so you don't accidentally pinch yourself! I did use the sport brand.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time for lending a simple solution for what seemed
like a big, scary problem. Thanks Again! Diane

After using the sea sponge, I found the moisture caused a discharge and irritation that I finally got rid of only by douching with vinegar. Nothing like a tampon turned a bit sideways. It has worked like a miracle. You can always use a little petroleum jelly inside if you feel it is too dry also. I bought the regular size and I use them when I have to go out for comfort.
