~The Mother Of Invention~

Body:

So....after I had my third stage cystocele a short time ago I found that doing yard work was out of the question. Was told no heavy lifting (I had been doing all the weeding, mowing, edging, tree trimming, using the blower and all the clean up...well you get the idea) Hubby has a bit of age and health probs so he can't do a lot, but can manage the mowing. I did have two different yard service groups come and do a little work so I could judge the results. Needless to say that was a no go. Not to be outdone. I have found a way to work safely but have my yard llok good, as well. I found that Rubber Maid has a yard cart that is perfect for sitting and clipping my roses. Then I discovered a hand held light weight edger from Black & Decker. It is not electric. It is manual with super sharp shears that can be adjusted to cut sideways or straight up and down. So now, I can once again, enjoy working in my yard and enjoying my rose garden. Goes to show...my situation has become the mother of invention. If you can't do your everyday chores and activities the old way...Find a new way. *Smiles* to all and wishes for a happy day! Rose

Fabulous Rose : ) You are so inspiring. And roses are so worth it. One of my fondest memories is of my grandmother's rose garden. Enjoy ; )

Is it the True Temper Lawn Buddy Lawn Cart?

Necessity certainly is ....

My son made me, for my birthday, a yard cart out of scrap steel from his workplace and some wheels off an old barbecue that he picked up off somebody's kerbside collection. It is about a metre long, about 400mm wide, like a garden traymobile with a top tray at table height and a bottom tray for things like bags of fertiliser. I can now cart my crate of reticulation gear around the yard and work standing at this little bench.

Now, for Christmas, if he could make a little fold down seat for the front of it ...

Louise

Louise that cart sounds bril! Maybe you should drop hints that a seat would be sooooo appreciated :0) The one my hubby found is from Rubber Maid and he got it at a tag sale. Oh and the long handle shears are Fiskers not Black & Decker. Hubby was wrong on that note. He thinks everything is Black & Decker. Men! Now I am working on a way to make a seat that I can actually put on the ground so I can get to my flower beds to weed them. I'm thinking maybe an old, larger seat cushion with a water proof covering. I have some material and I'll have to fire up the sewing machine for that one. I could probably ask my son-in-laws to do all of this, but I just need to feel that I can still do for myself. Is that crazy of me? It's just that with all these health issues I sometimes feel useless. Yesterday the old bulging disc kicked in and my back is killing me today. Then, right on cue the IBS-D has reared it's ugly head. I swear dealing with all of this is a chore...BUT...one can't sit back and let life go by. So today I am sitting here writing this with a cold pack on my tummy and hot pack on my back. Funny to see!
