1 lb ankle weights?

Body:

Hi all,

Have been wanting to ask this question for quite some time, as I have had no luck finding 1 lb ankle weights locally.

Anyone?

Thank you.

(shrinking)...we finally figured out the ones in the video are wrist weights :-/

Dear Christine,
If the wrist weights work, will you please tell me where I might be able to find them?

They certainly are better than no weights at all, and I've been 'weightless' forever, and need a bit of a challenge.

Thank you for the smile ;-)

I have seen weights which I think can be used for either wrists or ankles, that you fill with water to whatever weight you want. A less bulky alternative would be to make wrist bands that you fill with sand or lead shot to the right weight.

Hi Louise,

Good idea is to make your own, key search word is 'wrist', have since found quite a few on the net, not sure yet what I will do.

Do you use any kind of weights on your ankles?

Thank you :-)

Nope. I just wear big heavy boots if I think I need more weight on my feet. ;-)

Louise

Dear Louise,

If you feel that you need more weight on your feet, when doing the ww workout, you would wear heavy boots?

Amazing!

Thank you for a smile ;-)

Predicted next response: Yep!

The weights we use here, Oceanblue, are "Body Fit" by Sports Authority. I buy them from our local Sports Authority store, which I'm not sure still exists! It's astonishing how many big stores have closed. Our oldest and biggest mall has two of its largest department store spaces empty. I think they should turn them into greenhouses! ;)

Dear Christine,
'Sports Authority' seems to be alive and kicking, in the US, but not in CA. No worries, the key word was 'wrist' and I have spotted a few to my liking.

Thank you once again,

Oceanblue

p.s. your idea of converting empty store spaces within a mall, into greenhouses is a good one!

But I don't do a lot of workouts. I would just put my boots on and go and do a physical job outside for exercise. I am building a fox proof pen at the moment for fattening our Christmas goose.

Dear Louise,
Yep, all my boots weighed in at minimum of 1lb each, Kodiaks came in first, rubber boots came in second.

Guess since I do quite a bit of walking, weights are not that much of a priority during Christine's dvd workout.

Good Luck with wee goosey,

Thank you for sharing.
Oceanblue

bare feet work outs are so wonderful though and if you would like some added weight but still want the benefits you get from bare feet work outs the logical thing to do would be to add ankle weights.

I agree with you Alemama!
Thank you :-)

You didn't really think I would work out in boots, did you?

Of course not Louise, I think that most likely you get a great work out, simply by living and working outside on perhaps a farm? You did mention preparing a goose for ..... erm .... who looks after that?

My boots are about to go walking, all extra exercise outside of Christine's dvd, is good for me! And guess what? 'tis raining cats and dogs!

Thank you for the smile ;-)

I found some at Walmart here in Canada but I am sure that Walmart in the States would carry them too

Hi Oceanblue

Erm ... yes ... Christmas dinner.

Well, I am modifying an old aviary that needs to be more secure to keep out foxes. Actually it is two geese. An Italian friend has some goslings, which may not survive the feral foxes, so we are taking two this year, so ours has company while getting fat; one for ourselves and one to fatten and kill for them, so they can have a Christmas goose as well. It is just as easy to keep two gees secure as one goose.

We are going camping for ten days in December, so we have to have it set up well with shelter, food and water sources so the man who comes every day to feed our dogs doesn't have to do too much messing around.
Actually, he is Canadian, but has been living here for many years. Still sounds Canadian, though. Lovely man. We like to keep him happy.

It is only the setting up that is strenuous, making it as secure as Fort Knox, but easy to keep clean.

Last year's goose came on our camping trip with us, and stayed nearby, with our daughter. Taking pets on holidays is one thing, but taking Christmas dinner??? Taking two geese? I don't think so!

Louise

sure was lucky to go camping with humans :-)

Where may I ask did last years goosey sleep?

When I think of camping, a tent pops into mind ...

Also, wonder how often you will be thinking of the two that you left behind ... with a Canadian care giver. Smiles...

Cheers Louise!

Actually, our daughter looked after last year's goose. She doesn't live in a tent. She lives in a shed, well, a lined shed, but a shed all the same, on a farm. The goose lived outside, in a large, heavy weldmesh tree guard with a lid on the top, The type you put around trees when there are cattle and horses sharing the paddock. She fed it yummy green things and grain, when she got home from work. He also had a bucket of water so he could put his head under water and blow bubbles, which geese are fond of. Cleans out their nostrils apparently.

Now you mention it, having a Canadian carer might be a bit like hiring a fox to guard the chooks. I shall have to have a cautionary word with him about that. I thought Canadians were nice people? Now I know that they are nice people who share my love of goose (and salmon, and digging up wilderness and sending it to other places in ships).

What a delightful story Louise, thank you for shariing. Geeese blowing bubbles, will have to pass that one along for sure :-)
