Cardiovascular exercise

Body:

Hi! New here. I am 48 with 8 children. 5 natural births, then c-section, then VBAC, then c-section. I had some rectocele from child #3 28 yrs. ago. My youngest is 3 and my dr. said last month I have uterine prolapse. I've felt my cervix at vaginal opening for some time but hadn't ever heard of prolapse. I've lost 45 lbs. in last year and have been jogging on a treadmill. Is the jogging harmful? What is the best/safest cardiovascular exercise?
Thanks.

Congratulations on the weight loss! You probably have also lost the fat pads underneath your rectum that help fill and cushion your pelvic cavity, which may have contributed to your symptoms. Not to worry, your body will adjust. High impact activity can be accomplished with prolapse, but the key is holding your body so that your organs are impacting the soft tissue of your lower belly instead of being pushed/joggled to the pelvic outlet at the back of the body. That is what the WW work is all about.

We would love to hear how you do!

I can keep my treadmill??!!!! I had it at the door to sell. I thought I might have to replace it with an elliptical or something else that I really can't afford right now. Where do I find out how to hold myself correctly while jogging?

Having lost 131lbs now - I would have to say that as my jounrney has gone on... I have noticed that whenever I have lost a large amount of weight in a short time -I have lost this weight in fits and starts over ten years now - I have noticed that my POP goes through a bad time for a month or two - Then adjusts itself back to 'normal'

I noticed when I had a treadmill that if you walked and 'rolllllled' your feet through the walking/running that the impact was not as much and my POP was not aggravated as much by it.

If you find that the POP is aggravated - all you have to do is slow down a tiny bit - and adjust yourself by talking a longer stride - This may sound silly but - By adding 'range of motion' into any movement the muscle works harder even though you are moving slower. Just try it - Go on your treadmill and walk normally - Then walk a tiny bit slowe but elongate your stride length by an inch or three - You will find that immediately your muscles will work harder :-)

In doing this - I would say that ANY exercise can be adjusted to be better for POP (Tho in typing that I dont know about trampolining LOLOL)

Good luck to you - All will be well. If I can do it - ANYONE CAN :-)
A couple of years ago I had a POP that was outside of my body, peeking all the time - Driving me nutso. Now - I hardly ever think about it - and only notice it at certain times of the month, as I am not planning on losing much more weight.

And NO - You do not need to sell your Treadmill! You just need to re-evaluate what you want from it :-)

All will be well :-)
