Back pain

Body:

Hi every one, I just have a quick question. :)
I've only been doing the WW posture for 3 days and I've noticed that my back and neck have started to hurt.
Did this happen to any one else? Or am I not doing it correctly?
Thank you :)
Jessie

Hi Jessie- Girl

Yup, I got that at first- and so many women complain that the posture is tiring and makes them ache. You're using your muscles in a different way to how you have been using them for about ten years. I think many of us get self conscious and start contorting our bodies at about eight. Somebody, a mum or a ballet teacher, suggests we suck our tummies in and tuck our bottoms under and we start to lose out natural posture. It feels natural, because our bodies have got used to it. Good news, after a months or so, whole woman posture feels very natural. I never have any aches or pains now.

To start off with, try to alternate the posture with lots of rest. If it starts to ache in the evening, can you lie down on your side to read a text-book or watch TV for a bit? This doesn't mean you're behaving like an invalid, it means you are like an athlete gradually building up your strength and treating your adapting muscles with respect. You need to build things up gently, and give your muscles time to get used to it.

Sorry if you are being bombarded with advice. I think you're bringing out the mother in all of us.

Take care, and let us know how you get on.
