I'm watching the National Concert on TV - at Washington DC. And a soldier just talked about being in one of the first IED explosions in Afghanistan. He talked graphically about his injuries and lying in his own blood - thinking he was dying. And having his leg amputated. And knowing the other will have to go. And about having 150 pieces of shrapnel in him. And needing his wife to change the dressings and get him through this. And needing his other foot to get leverage so he can get to the bathroom and lift his children.

And hearing of families and what they go through.........
