Pelvic floor prolapse [POP] discovered my own exercise!

Body:

Hi ladies,

Since January of this year 2011 when I discovered a prolapse, had medical checkup and advise that was basically a disaster decided no operation would cure the prolapse, so I had decided to leave things alone and try and help my body. First of all started a couple of months ago changing life style, this includes a programme of changing my eating habits and the type of foods - I have lost weight, walk every day for at least 30 min - climb the stairs, in fact all the things I used to do before POP arrived on the scene. Initially I did the kegel exercises but I found these gave me a backache for some reason so I stopped but my physical exercise increased just by doing the day to day chores, gardening, walking to the shops and so on. Most important and pure by accident when I was doing gardening and I do alot bending over to pick things up with my back curved and my knees slightly bent the prolapse literally goes back up again! at first I thought my prolapse was going to get worse with all the bending but it did not! so I devised an exercise where I curve my back whilst standing bending my knees slightly your backside sticks out, then place the palm of your hands just above the knees for support if needed whilst breathing contract your vagina muscles pulling upwards and hold as long as you can, then gently release, repeat the prolapse pushes itself upwards and the vagina muscles are strengthened. I have not read or saw this technique anywhere on the contrary when physiotherapists teach kegels it is whilst standing upright, sitting on a chair or on the bed.. my technique works and you know I dont even think about prolapse anymore I live a normal life the obsession as what to do about it has completely gone - Sunday I am off on holiday for 4 weeks Greek islands so there will be more swimming and enjoying having fun. I felt personally that this POP was taking over my life now I have control it is also mind over matter my outlook is positive, feel happy and content. I just wanted to share my technique with you.

Hallo Diamond!
I am very happy for you with your victory over prolapse!!
I wanted to ask you what type of prolapse did you had?

And so you curve your back bend over like if you are going to something in front of you, and while your coming up again you pull up your vagina
mucles, and coming back up with the back curved.

Great news, Daimond.

Shekina, do you see how it is possible to get your body to behave itself? You just have to get your head around where your pelvic organs are, and the current orientation of your body, and you can reconfigure your body so that your pelvic organs are supported by your own anatomy?

The human body is a wondrous machine. There is never 'just one' means of doing anything in the body. All parts of the body seem to be multifunctional, and they seem to work together to accomplish several tasks, so that, if one mechanism fails, there are other mechanisms that can make up for it.

The principles are the same for all women, but some women find it easier than others, and sometimes it takes longer for our bodies to understand. I do hope your body can compensate for your disconnected ligaments.

Hi Shekina
The prolapse is cystocele and rectocele this is what I was told when examined, however, do not have pain, toilet habits are fine - when it first happened way in January my back was hurting, it was killing me day in and day out, now I do not have backache I feel just fine.
Just to clarify I do not come back up! that is I do not raise my body upright I remain in same position and literally tighten the muscles by squeezing, and more squeezing and then gently relax, just repeat the exercise whilst you are still bending. It literally pulls up the prolapse to its correct position - those who suffer from rectocele when going to toilet for no.2 do not sit upright as this position will force the prolapse more forward into the vagina, again just bend forward whilst sitting on the toilet seat to prevent the prolapse moving forward. How do I know it works! I have checked my self many times over and the prolapse is not close to the vagina entrance... it moves right back up where it belongs. It took me a while to figure it out and it works for me.
