Mucus when wiping after pee

Body:

susan here yet again...

i have searched mucus etc on the site
and for some reason didn't come up with
anything that fits this...

64 yo postmenopausal describes me...

does anyone have mucus when wiping
after peeing?

my *loretta* is pretty much right to the
opening some days and some days a little
below.....not sure if the friction against her
causes this mucus and wondering if anyone
else experiences it...

thanks...for this and everything...

love peace and light .........susan/fannierose

Why does this mucous concern you? Is there anything odd about it -- malodorous, thick, frothy, yellow-green, or bloody? If not, I would think it is just normal cervical mucous. It is still produced in menopause (though in lesser amounts than in your menstruating days). Irritation and inflammation can increase mucous, which is what you also seem to suspect is the case with your low cervix. If you still feel like something about this mucous is not right, you may wish to have an assessment by a medical professional.

for taking the time to reply...

just something fairly new for me...
and i was wondering if it was normal
for others...

Hi Fannierose

Sorry, but I cannot remember whether or not you use any HRT, including topical oestrogen cream or pessaries in the vagina. This would be the most obvious reason why you would have vaginal or cervical mucus. The only other thing I can think of is using a vaginal moisturiser, or the normal fluid from sexual activities.

If these are not the case, then as Badmirror suggested, a medical practitioner will be able to help you find out where it is coming from, and why it is happening.

thanks for the response...

nope ..none of those things.....i will check
w/the doctor on that...just wondering if
it was a *normal* occurrence with POP...

i have been in an ibs flare also so that
could be contributing...

thanks again...

Ah! So you are not sure if the mucus was coming from your anus or your vagina? I never thought of that possibility. Yes, mucus does sometimes accompany stool. I used to notice it when my kids had viral type tummy wog diarrhoea, or moreso when the gut was healing afterwards, kind of like when our nasal passages are healing after a cold we get lots of clear mucus coming out of our nose.

The doctor or nurse will be able to tell you where it is coming from, and whether or not it is significant.

i have been having ibs bouts more often
which are accompanied by mucus ....

in researching ....i read that an over abundance
can trickle down the urethra ...... or if there is a
fistula...it can accumulate and be expelled thru
the urethra...

my initial question was to rule out ..or in...
if loretta being so prominent would cause
mucus to accumulate kind of like a *protective
barrier* with the real world...

thanks again louise for your input and support...
