Tampons for Prolapse

Body:

Don't want to do the mesh surgery as there are restrictions on lifting heavy objects and I am a gardner and a pet owner and haul heavy stuff. The pessery is HORRIBLE ! ! ! ! Hurts like the dickens putting it in and out. Tampons seem to do the trick quite nicely. Would a hysterectomy solve the prolapse problem? What are the pros and cons. I am 70

Hi Karlyn,
Please look at all other ways of managing this before considering surgery. I can say this from experience, because I did not do my research and ended up having surgery for cystocele..that ended up not being successful and in fact made the condition worse. I have improved much with the help of this wonderful forum.
Maybe the pessary is not the right size for you. Put the word pessary in the search and you will see lots of women with different experiences with pessarys. It is your body so don't let the doctors fob you off. I have read here that many women have a good report of using the thin ring with support type. Not sure about the donut types...but my point is don't give up at the first one. My mother in law has the thin ring type and she has been very happy with it.

Read the article in the library by Louise called Two Doors...it is about the decision on surgery...essential reading (wish I had).
Hysterectomy is such a big operation. I guess there must be some people for whom it is successful, but I know more people for for whom it was not, and only one person for whom it has been a success.
The numbers are not favourable.
Read up, lots of information here. Adopt the posture, it works. From the sound of it you are an active lady, look up fire breathing and nauli., very good for lifting the uterus.
Ask questions, you are in the best place to get help.
I am sure some of the experienced women and/or moderators will add their thought soon.
Best wishes
Lindy

Hi Karlyn – I second Lindy’s post here, and would like to give you some additional resources to check out. Go to the “Theater” tab above, and watch Christine Kent’s video “Whole Woman 101” to get an idea of what we are all about here. The first part discusses all the surgeries and their risks, then the video goes on to describe the principles of Whole Woman posture and how it can stabilize prolapse and improve overall health.

Then on the same tab, check out her interview with Nora Coffey of the HERS Foundation. After watching that, go to the HERS website. I would particularly recommend the Female Anatomy Video, which is recommended to anyone who is considering hysterectomy and being asked to provide informed consent. Without this information, there is no truly informed consent!

Please explore the resources here, and educate yourself before going down the path of no return. Good luck! - Surviving

Simply put, surgery appears to try to attach muscle to muscle(or some kind of fleshy stuff in our bodies( HOW COULD THIS WORK FOR THE LONG TERM?)

I am in the ring as one who did not want surgery, started to question my own senses, had it and regret it as I now am uterusless, with some mesh still causing some discharge as I work on accepting a donut pessary. The surgery is awful, (pain) My body rejected the mesh... On the up side, there was not a lot of cutting done except for the upper uterus. I do remove the 3" pessary every nite now and wash and store it and re-insert it in morning. One day I forgot to put it in and didn't realize until efforting to remove it. haha. I think that the Canadian medical system should take this surgery off their coverage.. it is a very stupid surgical procedure... wish I had worked on an insert(pessary) first- I have had to buy each of the 2 I have used. ($100 each)
Tampons tell you on the labels to not use if you do not have your period.. they dry u further... The pessary is from inert silicone which does not absorb moisture... it still needs to be further studied by all the smart, caring people in the gynaecological discipline and help us but It appears to me that Posture correction could be simply put the answer...

Maybe try to find the organic ones with no chemicals- and use plenty of lubrication.

Hi Karlyn, I am curious to know how do you use the tampon for your prolaspe?
I have one more question I am totally confused about after I post my comments do I press save or preview? and then when I get a comment how do I find it the reason I'm asking is so far I found only one, I have posted a few comments but I don't get any answers. Please help!!!!

Hi Heavenlyflower - I have just "tracked" your comments and I don't see any that did not receive a response. After you make a comment it is not "saved" until you press "save", that is pretty self-explanatory. When you are signed in, you can click on your user name to track your own postings. Also you can use the search bar above to look for threads discussing tampons.

I don't mean to sound dumb, stupid, or ignorant but I don't understand how this system works, I was under the impression that it's like me sending an E-mail, I am having trouble finding my replies I just found Christine's reply to my question I sent her in Dec. of last year, so for you to receive my post what do I press? do I press save or preview? and to retrive my replies what do I have to do?
What is threads and where do I find that?

Hi Heavenlyflower.....The forum is not like e-mail. When you write a comment and save it, it stays where you put it for anyone to read and respond to. You likewise can read and respond to other posts. You can start a brand-new "thread" by clicking on "Create Content" on the left side of the screen, or you can just add your comment or question to another thread, which is basically what you've been doing. You aren't sending anything, like e-mail, it just stays here. You can click on your user name (when you are signed in) to find all the comments you have posted. "Preview" is just that, it shows you what your post will look like AFTER you "save".

Thank you Surviving60 I now have a better understanding of how I should use the Forum.
I don't know how to sign on to The WW page I've been going straight from an email from Christine, or typing in WW.com and go from their.

Hi Heavenly

The Login box is at the top left of the screen. You would have been given a password when you first joined. I stay logged in all the time. Occasionally when Lanny does something to the site I have to re-login, but it is not a big deal. I just click on Recent Posts just under the login box, every time. The new ones are marked with how many new responses there are since you last visited.

If you have lost your password I can reset it for you. Email me, louiseds at wholewoman.com.

Cheers

Louise

I am scheduled for a total hysterectomy in July due to a Uterine Prolapse and Cystocele. I am very scared and nervous. I feel so blessed to have come across this web site. I am having second thoughts about surgery, but I am wondering if there is hope for me. I am 60 and have been diagnosed wtih a stage 3+ prolapse. Will the posture program and exercises help me? I have ordered Christine's book First Aid For Prolapse and I am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Grandma,
My symptoms are a little different from yours, however while I was waiting for my parcel, I read the forum comments, I explored the Village & the FAQ( frequently asked questions was very informative - the last on the list has a description of the Whole Woman Posture ), the library & village post have excellent articles, & the movies are excellent also, along with Christine's journey.
If you have questions along the way, or need support like now there are many experienced ladies here.
I have great hope that putting in the effort of exercise, using the posture 24/7 & making it all part of my life will address my issues.
(((( hugs)))) & best wishes to you,
from another newie,
Soul Sister

Hi Grandma - great advice from Soul Sis. I urge you to go to the theater tab above, click on the drop-down menu and watch Christine Kent's interview with Nora Coffey, founder and director of the HERS Foundation. She gives the straight scoop on hysterectomy, information women are rarely given when they are being expected to provide "informed consent" for this procedure. Stick around, you are in a warm and safe place here! - Surviving60

Dear Soul Sister,
Thank you for your suggestions. You give me great hope.
hugs to you,
Grandma

Hi Surviving60,
Thank you for your encouraging words. Your words give me lots of hope and motivation. Thank you, Thank you.
Hugs to you,
Grandma

Hi Grandma, Wow! Aren't you lucky to find us now! There is so much you can do to make it easier for your body to retain your pelvic organs better, but it might take a while for you to see the benefits. I think it is worth your while to put the surgery off for at least three months if you could bear it, and just see how much improvement you can get using Wholewoman methods. You don't *have to * have the surgery at all if you finally decide against it. You haven't signed your life away. If you haven't had the surgery, there is always hope that you won't need it. It is major surgery, and you might not end up better off in a few years than you are now.

Check out the video at Christine's Cottage, and the excerpts from the DVD's on YouTube, and the FAQ's in the Tab at the top of the page, then come and ask some specific questions.

Hi Louiseds,
I enjoyed reading your suggestion regarding my situation. Thanks for taking the time to welcome me to this lovely family. I will follow your suggestions. Lots of hugs to you.

Sorry Grandma, I told you something wrong. WW posture 101 is the video at the Theatre. There is another one, called Pelvic Position at the Whole Woman Center.

Happy viewing.
