Nauli - how to do it?

Body:

I have the book, first aid dvd, and wooden baton - is there a description anywhere there? thx, judith

Forum:

Hi peacegarden,
there are several you tube descriptions on utube. I just looked up one by 'kiki - deep cleansing nauli'. She's so good at it and so lean - I certainly don't look like that! However she does give a clear description.
There have been a number of questions similar to yours over the years on the forum. You may like to look at the Body Forum. In particular Christine gives an answer on Oct 8 2010, where she suggests working in nauli counter clockwise:

Yes, you begin to nauli after you’ve expelled all air from your lungs and pulled your navel up and in toward your spine.

Christine's comments:
The counterclockwise suggestion is my very own. It makes sense to me because of how the descending colon is positioned down the left side. Circling counterclockwise lifts up in that area - also lifting the rectum. It seemed very natural to do it that way and now, try as I might, I cannot circle clockwise.
Another technique that works extremely well - and I suggest this for a very low uterus - is to pump the belly forcefully straight out and in, while holding the vacuum. The action literally shoves the uterus forward - quite amazing.

Hope that helps, wholewomanuk

I could not see on the DVD what is meant by counterclockwise so ...
Is the clock on the floor facing you (3 o'clock being on your right side)?
or is the clock on your chest facing the floor (3 o'clock being on your left side)?
Thanks

This was discussed extensively at our conference, but I still don't trust myself! I believe the clock is on your chest, which puts 3 o'clock on your left. I THINK. Someone please confirm.

Yes, three o-clock is on the left...

Thanks!

OK, so 3 o'clock is on the left. 6 o'clock is on the right. Now for the tricky bit.

Is 6 o'clock out the front of my belly, and 12 o'clock inside my belly near my spine?

Or is 6 o'clock down near my pubes and 12 o'clock up under my sternum?

ie, when thinking of the woman standing upright normally, is nauli a vertical circling, or is it a horizontal circling? I know that we normally nauli with the torso diagonal, but I described the two possibilities with the woman standing, for the simplicity of visualising it.

Yeah, I know. ;-( I went to a week of classes for the end of my teacher training, and helped at the Conference, but I would be the first to admit that nauli is still something I am grappling to 'get'. It is not easy. When I finally work out how to do it, it will be party time. This clarification will be helpful for all of us.

Christine?

Once it clicks, like riding a bicycle, you will always know how to do it. But you do have to conceptualize it correctly. For starters, if 3 o'clock is on the left (correct), then 9 o'clock must be on the right. Yes, 6 o'clock is at your pubes and 12 o'clock under your sternum. Think of it as a vertical clock (you are the clock) and once you have a complete vacuum by breathing all your air out, hold your breath and begin to pull up from bottom left - continuing to circle in that direction. This is an extremely useful exercise I hope everyone can master, but it does take time to sink in. Let us know how it goes...

Just confirming. That makes it harder again. Slowly, slowly, catchee monkey!
