Cycling

Body:

Hello everyone - I just joined. I was diagnosed with a prolapse just over a year ago, although I'm sure I had it long before that, but was distracted from treatment by an ovarian cyst. I had the cyst and the ovary it was attached to removed about a year ago and completely forgot about the prolapse until this week, when the combination of skinny jeans, red wine and a heavy house move brought on the frequent urinary tract stuff that had taken me to the doctor in the first place. Amongst other things, I was wondering whether it's wise to be getting back on my bike. Does anyone know if cycling would do more harm than good? I've missed it.

Hi Cecilia and welcome. With biking, it totally depends on how you are sitting. Are you familiar with Whole Woman posture? That is how we approach prolapse management, and it's something we do every waking moment, including when on the bike. Are you able to sit up straight on your bike, keep your lower back curved, not rounded? - Surviving

Hello Surviving60, and thanks for commenting! Yes, I can sit up straight on the bike but I usually end up curving forward, which loses the curve in the lower back. I'm not very familiar with the Whole Woman posture, though I came across it this afternoon. I'm working on making myself aware of the curve while I'm saving up for the book & dvd, which is quite expensive to ship across to the UK. The DVD is not available over here. I'll definitely remind myself to keep the correct posture when cycling and very happy not to have to stop altogether. Thanks again. Nice not to feel so alone!

Hi Cecilia

You can buy them from Lindy Roy, UK teacher, and only pay domestic postage. Go to the Certified Whole Woman Teachers page, and find her contact details. I know she has books and DVD's on hand.

I am a Teacher from Australia. I am expecting my first big order of books, DVD's etc to arrive from The Whole Woman Store at the end of this week. I will be able to offer domestic rates to Australian buyers, and a bit cheaper than US international postage to New Zealand members, which will cut some of the cost down.

Aw, thanks Louise - that's brilliant! xxx
