falling apart

Body:

hi everyone i'm new here. i just gave birth on 7/11 to my 4th child. just went for my 6 week postpardum visit last week and found out i have a stage 3 cystocele. i have tried to do the kegals like the dr. said by stopping the urine flow but it just keeps flowing. i have to bear down to urinate. no bladder leakage...yet! ugh i have a tubal set up for 9/19 and my dr doesn't want to do surgery on this until after 6 months postpardum. are there any other types of excercises that can be done?

Welcome falling, and congrats on your new babe! I’m sure you know by now that your PP recovery is a long one. I don’t know how far apart your kids are spaced, but it can take up to 2 years for your body to revert to “normal”. During this time, if you’re careful about certain things, you will see improvement in your prolapse.

First, bearing down to urinate is not a good idea. Better to try and get it going by lifting up a little off the seat and leaning forward, to “tip” everything to a better angle for emptying. You can even try doing it down on all fours, in the shower or over a basin. Just be sure to empty completely at least once a day.

It’s most important right now for you to be gentle on yourself, and enjoy your babe. Overzealous kegeling is not going to help and is probably counterproductive. Instead, use the resources of this website to learn about Whole Woman posture because this is the perfect time to start. You can begin to train your organs to settle into the relaxed lower belly, instead of invading the vaginal space. You need to restore lower lumbar curvature and it is a gradual process. Have you taken a look at any of this information yet? And what type of surgery are you considering.....getting tubes tied? - Surviving

... on the birth of your lovely baby, Fallingout. I am afraid this doctor of yours has never birthed a baby, and tried to recover after the birth. Kegels will get your pelvic floor moving, which is often helpful, but Kegels will not do anything to help a 3rd degree cystocele one month postpartum. I wish doctors would be more sensible about this. It sounds like you feel a failure because you couldn't make it work. Wrong! You were told the wrong information. Sigh.

Now, straightening up your posture, allowing your belly to relax, and lifting your chest, is at the heart of what you can do to help your body to recover, and support your bladder more effectively, on your pubic bones, rather than on the top of your vagina. It simply slides or rolls your bladder and uterus forward so they are better supported.

You will be much better six months from now.
