after surgery

Body:

Okay, so I have the first book, which I've had for 8 years. I'm the one who had rectocele and cystocele surgery over 8 years now and now they're telling me I have another small rectocele and that my uterus has now dropped .I want to move on and buy whatever will help me but which would that be? Most of what I've read so far is talking about dealing with these problems without surgery. Too late for that but I really want to avoid anymore. I know that when I see the specialist, they will be pushing me in that direction and I want to be armed with some information. Should I buy a video? I can't afford any bundles.
Please inform !!

Hi recapture –Whole Woman posture is the right posture for every woman. Your results are not going to be on a scale with someone whose pelvic dynamics haven’t been altered, but you are still better off in posture than not. Whether you can get enough stabilization to avoid further surgeries is something that only time and work will tell. But I think we all pretty much know what your doctor is going to recommend.

Because posture is everything, the best resources for basic understanding are the book (2nd edition) and First Aid for Prolapse DVD. The yoga DVD’s are great for the soul and each one gives a whole arsenal of additional moves. Firebreathing will be good for you and is covered in the book, FAFP DVD, and most recently the Yoga 3rd Wheel.

Don’t be expecting a DVD to be a magic bullet. You should aim for an understanding of WW posture and then practice it during all your waking hours. This is a lifetime of work even for those of us who have not had repairs. Your journey will be a little more uphill because of the damage already done. But look at it this way – if Christine can do it, so can you. - Surviving

Hi Recapture,

Can you remember (I know it was a long time ago) the reason you were told to get the surgery? What explanation did they give you? What procedure did you get? Was it the sling/mesh thing?

Thank you Surviving60, I'm going to order tonight. Any yes, I was thinking the same thing. Christine did it. Although our surgeries aren't the same, it still surgery.

Hi Sevilla555,
I can remember very well. I was told I had a large rectocele and surgery was the only answer. I hadn't yet agreed to the cystocele surgery and when they wheeled me into surgery with pre-surgery meds in me, he mentioned "are you sure you don't want me to do the cystocele too instead of another surgery later? It'll only take me another 20 minutes" It made me nervous to think that I would be going through this again and not thinking clearly, went along with it. Sure, for him it was only another 20 minutes and another nice chunk of cash in his pocket, for me it's a LIFETIME. There's no mesh or anything like that, just a mass of stitches on the top and bottom of my vagina. Hideous.

Hi recapture,

Please forgive me, but I would like to ask you some questions, if I may.

Was your surgeon a Urogynecologist? Did you check up on his record and how many procedures he had performed? How long was your recovery time and were you in a lot of pain? When he/she told you that surgery was the only answer for your large rectocele, did you think of getting a second opinion from another doc? Had you thought of asking what would happen if you DIDN'T have surgery?

I tend to think it quite unethical for docs to ask you to commit to another surgery (the Cystocele) at the time you were actually being wheeled into surgery for the Rectocele. And especially with pre-surgery meds in your system! They were obviously aware you were not in a state to be thinking quite straight. IMHO, that's a sneaky form of abuse!

And lastly, you say you had this surgery over 8 yrs ago. During that period did you have pain or other issues? Were you satisfied with the outcome of your surgery, or, looking back, and knowing what you know now, do you think you may have refused it?

Sorry for so many questions. I recently discovered my own prolapse recently and will go to a gynie this month. But only for a formal diagnosis. I have already decided not to have surgery (any kind) and don't intend to be talked into it. And am glad to have found this site.

I know that often when one is confronted by a doc wearing a white coat, one tends to be somewhat in awe and listen diligently to every word coming from their mouths without questioning. I am prepared for that kind of situation. I've been through that sort of thing before, and will stand my ground! I just want to know what kind of prolapse I have. Nothing else :p I ''might'' consider Estrogen cream, although the last time I used that I got a horrible burning sensation. So perhaps not!

Kind regards,

sevilla

Hi recapture,

It's me again, sevilla. Sorry to bother you again, but if your surgery wasn't mesh inplant, what exactly was it? Did they explain to you what they were going to do, and is there a medical term for the kind of procedure you had? Did they mention the word ''sling''?
