DivaCup

Body:

Has anyone ever tried the DivaCup? I am wondering if it would help support the vaginal walls as well as the sea sponge as a more natural alternative to pessaries.

I think that from previous posts on this topic it's the same as what we call the Moon Cup in the UK. I use one during my menstrual period, and I tried running with it in as an experiment a couple of weeks ago to work out whether it has a pessary-like effect. It did - there was definitely less internal "joggle"! I guess it depends on the fit and how high you insert it as to whether it works this way.
The only drawback I find with a menstrual cup is that it does slightly inhibit the flow of urine when I go to the toilet (and I gather this can sometimes be a problem with pessaries also?), so I make sure to remove it first.
And used for its original purpose it certainly saves on the cost of tampons or towels, and creates less waste!

Hi Wendy, I think the "Diva Cup" is the same as the "Instead" for menstrual flow? Am I correct? I did try that once only but it was painful so I didn't leave it in very long at all! I also tried cutting out the cup part and just inserting the ring, but no luck that way either. I am 62, and was supposed to have the surgery last May, but declined after finding this wonderful life-saving website! I am doing well, and have pretty much figured out that hot dogs and red meat have bothered my condition a lot. Not for sure but don't want to experiment any more and have another setback! I am even more active than last year, but don't strain too much and try my best not to get constipated. That has always been a problem and that could have been part of the start of the whole collapse to begin with!
