Happy Eid once Again....:)

Good for you, Bluesky! We all need to break out of the routine, and it sounds like a wonderful celebration. You have control over your body so you can allow yourself a little indulgence now and then.

Last weekend I "allowed myself" a bit of overdoing in order to get the yardwork done. Raking heavy leaves for a few hours, not good for prolapse. Hard to stay in posture. But I knew I had to get it done, I did, and it took hardly any effort to get back to what is normal for me. So now, I don't worry about those things.

Thanks for sharing your fun - Surviving

to you too Bluesky. Biriyani is about my absolute favourite spices and yes I have given it away as it certainly does not agree with me, quite possibly because whenever I cooked it, I ate way, way too, too much.

Yes, I think the celebration of Eid should remind all of us of how much humanity many of us share in common and that the Moslem, Christian and Jewish religions are all Abrahamic.

But then it is not differences of religion we fight about really, that is only sometimes made the excuse.

I had a glass of hot sweet, sweet tea with a sprig of spearmint tucked inside. Ah, such pleasure. And then afterwards I paid for it with a raging heartburn. My friend made us a tray of homemade spinach pies. Also cost me a hefty price. But just so you know, warm spinach pies and sweet mint tea are a match made in heaven.

I'm thinking to allow myself one last treat before I get back on track again. Lemon bars!!!!

Those need a nice mug of UNsweetened Turkish coffee, though (another no no for me).

Happy eid to yo also, bluesky! I call this the goat eid. I'm excited to have lots of bones for bone broth for the winter. I make stews using bone broth and vegetables or beans/legumes. No meat necessary- Goat or lamb bone broth is so rich.

Yes fab, we believe God's religion was revealed in stages and that Islam is the culmination of Judaism and Christianity.

I love Prophet Abraham, love reading his questions and search for the truth in the Quran. I was going to name DS2 Abraham but my sister had a boy a few weeks before I did and stole the name. I named him the Arabic version of John instead. :)

Oh and congrats on the weight loss, bluesky and feeling better all around. So happy for you.

Chickaboom, does you bone broth become a jelly? How do you store it for the winter?

No I never let it simmer long enough to become that thick. My bones soften a bit but never really disintegrate. I'd like to try making it like that though, I read that it's more nutritious that way. Usually I just make enough for what I need that day or the next day. I place about a half kg of raw bones in the pot, cover with water and bring to boil. I remove the scum and add the following: a stick of celery, a carrot,,a tomato, an onion, a few cloves of garlic, a small piece of fresh ginger, bay leaf, cardamom seeds, cinnamon stick, whole black pepper, cloves, etc. Then cover pot and cook on low heat for a few hours. Then I strain it and use it in whatever soup or stew I'm making that day. It also tastes delicious just sprinkling fresh chopped parsley on top and drinking it.

Ohhhhh, yyyuuuummmmmm! Can't wait to try that. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

were amazing. I recommend that, if you follow the recipe I linked to above, you make the thinner lemon layer. I found the thicker one too thick.

I saw the cooking process in the You tube but my electric oven is very tricky i cant get my puff pastries to puff up at all, in my old flat gas oven was good i used to bake a cake n puff pastry but with this electric one i just bake some tandoori chicken and thats it... Any sujjestions are welcome

Yes i do believe that the jews christian and muslims are from the same fountain...
Allah has mentioned in the quran
"Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians -- whoever believes in God and the Last Day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord. And there will be no fear for them, nor shall they grieve" (2:62, 5:69, and many other verses).

"...and nearest among them in love to the believers will you find those who say, 'We are Christians,' because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant" (5:82).

And My faviorite international speker is Dr zakir Naik he has highlighted
Similarities between Islam and Christianity ...And other religions (can find in youtube)
I like to listen to Yusuf Estes from texes he explains Islam in a very humble and clear way....

I try to make bone broth every week some times baby chicken with vegies
I like to add zeera and dill which are soothing to the stomach And also makes the broth more tasty
The other day i used the broth to make biriyani rice and it was the yummies biriyani that was cooked n it was in my MIL' s place and Every one was impressed Allah kept my dignity that day...All praise to Allah..

Its winter and the clocks have gone back an hour and i am 5 and half away from my people back home oh i miss them all.....

Right off to my kitchen......

Take care
