Good News and ??

Body:

Well went to see my gynie yesterday all armed with info and ready to fight for nonsurgical treatment. I was met with a very positive attitude, and told that whatever info I could find and use coudos to me and keep doing this.
Upon examination I was told that my prolapse is very mild, "symptomatic of having children". This "thing" that I have been feeling in her opinion is possible either a Urethral Diverticulum or a Gartner's Duct Cyst (she was more in favour of the cyst)
So now I am being referred to a urologist and scheduled for an MRI, then, it will be back to the gynie (why I don't know).

From the little bit that I have read it would seem that UD is associated with prolapse.

Have any of you any knowledge of these symptoms and remedies for same?

Hope you all are having a great day!!

pro12

Well Pro12, I have to admit never having heard of either of those two things! I did have a Bartholin's cyst for many years, is this similar? Maybe you can find something here by using the search box up above. Great news about the prolapse and hope that you get some information and answers on the other thing. Let us know - surviving

Gosh, trust you 2012 to get something nobody has heard of. Whether it is a UD or a GDC hope it doesn't mean you need to rush into any surgery. With cysts down there, they don't nowadays do they? Which do you think it is? And how does it affect your prolapse, even if it proves as mild as your gyn considers? I can’t imagine they would be great mates. They'd be fighting for space a bit.

Still, it will be a relief to know what it is and then you can go from there. Know our thoughts are with you.

Best wishes, Fab

time you checked in or I will have to send the police helicopter after you.

I have heard of urethral diverticulum as evidence of inflammation of the urethra, like diverticulitis of the bowel. A pocket of urine in a swollen bit of urethra might feel like a prolapse, It is probably more akin to a hernia in the urethra. They don't always need an operation. Maybe urethral splinting could be used to empty it and prevent accumulation of stale urine and build up of bacteria?

Here's hoping the tests will confirm what it is.
