I think I have a rectocele now...

Body:

Well, I thought I was doing pretty well for the past almost 2 years since I got the prolapse(I'm 30 now!!!), but yesterday I had a combination of loose/diarrhea and some problems "finishing". I noticed a squishy area in the back of the vaginal wall. Oh, and have my period all at the same time(yuck!) Now, it just feels fuller and gross. I am just a little concerned about the sex part, we don't do it very often(couple times a month or so) but, am worried that it will hurt. And, of course hoping that it doesn't get to a bad point. My son is almost 2 and I just can't imagine becoming pregnant with all of this going on.

Candice,
I am very sorry to hear that! You were so supportive when all this happened to me and I send lots of support and healing thoughts back to you of course. Are you sure you didn't have a rectocele at the start and you are simply noticing it now due to a traumatic BM? Just a thought, of course I don't know if that is possible or not for you.
As for sex, well it has been fine for me, no pain at all. In fact nothing feels any different there. I am sure once you get over the initial and inevitable hesitation you will feel OK and I doubt it will hurt.
Please let me know how I can help to make you feel better as I would love to in some way.
Take care.

Funny how we are so much more in tuned to every little change in our body after prolapsing. Those were my symptoms too. I was also sore in butt and vaginal opening. Then I saw the fluffy tissue down there. It took me a few times to get regular. I was sensitive for quite a while everytime stool passed out. If it was just a little hard I would feel pressure and i think i got an internal hemmorhoid for a while.

Someone here suggested flaxseed and i take the oil pill daily. I find it helps. Otherwise, you can eat the real thing and that would be even better. But just make sure you get that fiber in daily and lots of water.

I too wonder if perhaps it had not been there all along and you just now noticed it. I find it to be the least problematic prolapse for sex-- sometimes the lower cervix gets bumped and Ouch! Doesn't happen very often, but the rectocele never is a problem. I've kind of come to conclusion that if you have to get prolapse recotcele might be the best one. Maybe I'm totally wrong, but it will only go so far and the bulge is relieved once a bm is had. At least that's how mine works.
Jane

It is unbeliveable how much better all of you one feel!!!! I am so glad that we have each other to talk to about this. Nobody else can understand the emotional part, you know?? I can talk to my sweet husband about it until I'm blue, but eventhough he tries, he just doesn't get it the same as another prolapsed woman.

So, thank you for your replies. I had such a better day today thanks to all of you who responded!!!!

Candice

candice, I know how lousy it is to find another prolapse! just so you know, my rectocele causes me no trouble. I think its completely gross but that's another story. regarding sex though, honestly, the rectocele is the farthest thing from my mind!
my son is 2.5...I think two is the greatest age (I know they are supposed to be terrible but I think they're terrific). enjoy him and I bet with time you will find yourself considering having another. hey, if Jane can do it so can we!

Having it checked out to put your mind at rest. The same thing happened to me and I ended up seeing gynae doctor who said I looked perfectly normal to him (and he did a thorough examination). I still had just a mild cystocele.. I think I had just got paranoid.. I have been constantly since this happened!

Is this a jelly mass that someone talked about in the past few weeks? I wish I had asked more about the mass at the time, but I didn't. Not sure why.
This started about a week ago when I hadn't had a BM in a day or two.
This really has me worried. An internal hemmorhoid? What is that? I intend to get the flaxseed and hopefully that will help.

I have no idea what the fluffy tissue is - get a diagnosis! Just don't be worried, because all of these prolapses, from cystocele to rectal can be managed without surgery. You must become ever more vigilant though, and keep pressure off that area by both shifting your postural weight at all times and also eating like an angel. I was the one who used the term "jellied mass" in reference to the entire contents of the pelvis, which in actuality is much like the consistency of jello.
