Hope this isn't a repeat, but I wrote a post and somehow lost it....so here goes again.

I watched a documentary yesterday called "The Business of Being Born". It was produced by Rikki Lake and directed by Abby Epstein. There are several credible persons interviewed in the documentary as well as a featured midwife along with birth stories. The birth of Rikki's second baby is included. Abby became pregnant and delivered during the time the film was being made so she became part of the story too. It was really interesting and I would recommend it just for viewing, but that's not why I mention it here.

Rikki and Abby have an ongoing website called "My Best Birth". They are devoted to promoting natural birth. They already understand the attitude of the medical community toward women. They're halfway here. They have the ability and facility to help promote Whole Woman, Inc., if there were a mutual interest. They are also susceptible to POP and may develop a personal interest in Whole Woman methods if they were aware of them.

I don't Twitter and wouldn't want to begin communication as a spokesperson for Whole Woman - and be unable to answer pertinent questions. So I'm putting forth the suggestion of making contact with them to those of you who can.

Hi Bebe

Put Twitter into the Search box. We had a bit of a group interested in it. You might like to add to those Topics.

I am not sure what you meant about becoming a spokesperson for Whole Woman. I think it would be a good idea to contact Christine or Lanny about this. Lanny is not very well at the moment, so you might not get a speedy reply. Keep thinking about it, though.

However, there is nothing to stop you from being an informal promoter of Whole Woman, like the rest of us. There used to be brochures and a promotional bookmark on the website, that could be printed off for informal distribution, but they seem to have disappeared.

You could consider training as a practitioner too.

I do tell anyone I think might be interested about Christine's book, dvd's, the web site, and as much as I can about anatomy, exercise, etc. without going out of the bounds of my own knowledge. A referral to the web site is best - because all the info is here for available resources and contacts.

I've thought about the practitioner training, but I've got another course of study to pursue right now.

Spring is coming! I'm going shopping today for a good pair of walking shoes. Wish me luck.

:-)

My sisters have accused me of gloating or of reverse discrimination re: covetousness because I know how to find a bargain and love to talk about it. I think maybe it's the thrill of the hunt. Eight stores - but I found a pair of brand name, really excellent walking shoes at one-fourth the original price. I wore them around the house for eight hours (so they would be clean if I wanted to take them back) and my feet didn't get hot or hurt and my toes didn't go numb. They are dark enough to wear into fall and winter, but athletic style to wear with shorts this spring and summer. After I've walked the dickens out of them, I'll use them in the garden for a couple of years before I throw them out. I really needed a new pair of walking shoes because the pair of Easy Spirit walkers I bought at a yard sale for two dollars and wore for five years need to be replaced. When the suede couldn't be cleaned any longer, I polished them with wax and voila! - new leather shoes. They don't stink, but they did develop a leak. Too bad. This isn't poor-mouthing and it hasn't been a sacrifice. It's a choice of not wasting the earth and living free of debt. (I wasn't a hippie - honestly, I was a pseudo-freak.)
