How to make red clover salve?

Body:

Hi - I am new here and put a post out, but in hormones, probably the wrong forum. I would like to try to make the red clover balm/salve and cannot find it under resources - there was supposed to be a video. Perhaps it was taken down. I can't find any instructions online anywhere.
If anyone knows how to make this, please let me know.
Thanks,
Irene

Hi discdogmom

Go to Resources, and then click on Whole Woman Living Arts. It is in there. You can make these balms and salves of various consistencies by altering the oil:wax ratio. You can also vary the type of oil. One that has a melting point below body temperature would be good for the vulva, so it melts on contact and doesn't need friction and hard rubbing to spread. I use one made out anhydrous lanolin with a little beeswax for use on dermatitis on my hands. It is so tacky. It will stay on to some degree, even if I am gardening! I have another which is a sorbolene base with finely powdered red clover tea mixed in to it. That one is lovely for my face, where I don't want a greasy finish.

Hi - thank you, I have been all over this website and could not find the video! I watched it and don't think I have the time to do all that - it's very labor-intensive and requires a lot of things that I don't have. I looked online for something similar and found this:

It doesn't seem to have anything irritating in it - wondering if I should try it?

I found some others that definitely had things in it that I would not use on my vulva, like tea tree oil, but this seems to have basic oils as a carrier for the red clover. Does it look OK to you?

Hi discdogmom

You could probably use it instead of a home made one. Some people like making 'witch's brews' in the kitchen. Others like buying pre-made products in pretty jars.

The good thing about home made ones is that you can adjust the quantities if the consistency is not quite what you want. I think Christine's method is pretty complex too. I do have a little bottle of red clover tincture that I can add to any oil/wax base, but I also make small quantities by chucking a handful of red clover tea in a whizzy coffee grinder, and pulverise to a fine powder, then mix that into my base of choice, depending on what body part it is going on. That is so mega- easy, and can be done in really small quantities.
