leakage problem, sometimes heavy

Body:

I have been trying christines exercises, will this help with the incontence? Im not sure Im doing the exercises the right way.

Hi Kitty,

If you still have your uterus and have not had other surgery that would’ve altered the support of your urethra (i.e. anterior colporrhaphy) my exercises should help.

You need to understand, though, that it’s not so much this exercise or that exercise is going to help, but rather a total change of consciousness in how you hold your pelvis throughout each and every day. This is going to take time, as your tissues have pulled away from their natural support structures and need a lot of work to push them back toward their original positions. This “work” can be accomplished effortlessly simply by changing the ways in which you sit, stand and walk. More intensive exercises while keeping the body in natural positions serve to redirect soft tissues even more.

Thank you so much for your response. I have had this problem for so long, since 1998, it started shortly after my husband passed away, and I was on antidepressants. I was thinking that they could have added to the problem. I am sotired of wearing pads all the time, can't go without them, because sometimes the leakage is too heavy. I have my sons wedding to go to in aug, and Im not looking forward to it, because of my condition. I only can hope that changing my ways will help.

I’m glad you made that connection because antidepressants that increase the neuropeptide serotonin are being strongly linked with new-onset urinary incontinence. I believe you can improve this!

thank you christine. I no longer take antidepresants. And I was hoping that my condition would improve. But so far it is still there. I would like any help I can get. by the way I am 71 yrs of age

use of a vaginal exerciser. I've used the kegelmaster2000 and it has totally resolved stress incontinence issues. Don't know if that would help you, but the website is mykm.net. There is a thread previously on the kegelmaster; take a look. Some haven't had good results with it, but some have.

Good luck.

Marie
