myomectomy/muscle strength recovery

Body:

Hi again - Another thing I would like to know about is how people have recovered muscle strength after abdominal surgery. I had a myomectomy in 2001 - removal of large fibroid tumors, Without!! removing the uterus - i.e. no hysterectomy - I fought for doing it this way, as I felt it was very important to keep my uterus. The surgery went well, and I recovered well, but I've never gotten back to a comfortable belly/body since then - I 'expanded' before the surgery, as the tumor was equivalent to @6 months pregnancy size - and my belly is still very large and uncomfortable, as well as that I have issues re how I feel about how I look now. I know I don't do enough exercise (hardly any) and I really should start, but what I am concerned about is, if the abdominal muscles were cut (like a caesarian)is it much harder to lose flab and regain strength in that area? I'm 59, I eat a very simple vegetable/grain/fish & chicken style diet, I don't really overeat, but I can't seem to make a difference in this area, and would love to hear about how people have regained abdominal strength after surgery.
(Could this be posted on bodywork as well as pelvic health?) Thank you.

Gosh...if you're in the neighborhood come to the Center and we'll get rid of your extra-belly!!

Hi

My suggestion would be to look into some kinds of deep bodywork like shiatsu (japenese acupressure) or osteopathy, which can work on all layers of the body and energetically on the mind too, as they are mind body modalities (well at least shiatsu is) Osteopathy i'm no expert on but i think it is not simply physical work.

Best wishes
