Rectocele

Body:

Hello everyone
I have suffered with rectocele for 2 years now. It came in when I got pregnant 2nd time, along with coccyx pain and bad thrush. It's been a journey! Seen about 7 gynaecologists. Was told it was just constipation at first. I think the horrendous 1st birth I has caused this and him being in b2b position. I was traumatised. The birth of my second son left me with constant burning and on and off candida infections and strep b and vulvodynua type pains generally day after contact with hard chairs, sex and bikes !

Any I've been offered a rectocele operation at last and my pre op is Thursday this week. I have been researching everywhere and came across this site. I'm desperate to avoid surgery as I've see what they do during op on a utube video! Would be nice if cd heal naturally. I have a stage 2 prolapse. The bulge is only slight when my back passage is empty but when full I get a huge ball and have to press it from inside my vagina to pop out the poi. Took me a while to find out this method as gynaes weren't very helpful and suggested I wore gloves and go into anus to "digitally" remove the stoles.

I have been doing the ww posture for 3 weeks now and doing a couple of the exercises I've found on utube. I cannot afford the materials at the minute. My last big purchase was a kegel 8 machine but since read on here PF exercises are bad. There is so many conflicting viewpoints.

My concern is the nerve pain in getting. Maybe my pudendal nerve is damaged? Gynae said I don't have vulvodynia as I have no pain on contact, but I understand there are different types and I think I have unprovoked kind. I take antripiline to stop the constant burning sensation in my Vulva and I do have good days as long as don't provoke it by wearing trousers or going on a bike! Etc

I wonder if all these things are related to my rectocele?
I would welcome any advice, thank you. I feel so alone I'm only 35 and have a vagina of a 60 year old.

On this site you will find all kinds of stories of women who went through surgery .... and more surgeries .... and more surgeries .... and have regretted it.

You will also find women who have avoided surgery by adapting the ww posture and teachings.

I'd advise you to do a lot of reading on this site ... and learn how to handle prolapse the ww way.

Hopefully you'll receive more detailed answers from some of the women on here who have had experience with rectocele

Surgeryornot, I am happy that you landed on this site in time to stop yourself from surgery and the permanent damage it causes. That is our goal, to spread information and to reduce the demand for these procedures down to zero! The information is out there. Women have to look and do their own research because as you have seen, none of those 7 gyns you’ve consulted has had anything to offer except bad advice.

I would recommend as w2k has, that you do some more research, reading and viewing around this site. I’m sad that you blew your budget on that machine when for the same money you could have gotten yourself Christine’s book and entire collection of DVDs. No way to sugar-coat what a bad move that was. I would be trying to rectify that if you can (do they accept returns?).

I have rectocele and cystocele and have been doing this work for over 3 years. Rectocele is quite manageable with a complete and total immersion in Whole Woman posture and principles. I was into my second year when things finally started to click and to stick. There are no shortcuts here, and there is no cure either. It is work you will continue to do for the rest of your life.

Splinting through the vagina during bowel movements is a common practice that you may find you can discontinue after a few weeks/months of encouraging your spine/hips/pelvic organs into correct alignment.

I hope you are “cramming” for your pre-op appointment tomorrow. Don’t walk into that office and be a victim or a sitting duck. If you have surgery, your future will most likely be more surgeries with worse outcomes each time. - Surviving

Hi Surgeryornot,
I'm so so glad you found this site. I hope you find lots of support, information and answers on this website and this fourm. Do take time to look around the website. You can look at old posts (full of info), the blog (full of articles - check out 'the new keels), resources.... You have the rest of your life ahead of you, so one thing you have on your side is time. Take your time to find out the information you need and try out the WW approach. Once you've got your head around the basic WW principles and approach, it's actually pretty simple and all makes sense. The practical application of the WW approach, eg the posture, the exercises, the mindfulness and the joy... all takes time - over time - in fact a life-time. However it's a safe, natural, healthy approach which personally has taken me to a more joyful way of being and living.

So my suggestion is; cancel the surgery, don't go for it. Try the WW approach. Give it time, give it a chance. You've nothing to lose by doing so and you keep your options open. That cannot be said of the surgical option.

Take heart, take courage - and take the time to gently explore and experience the WW way.
With love, xwholewomanuk
