Periods

Body:

Although I have not reached menopause yet, this seemed the closest to what I could relate my issues.
I am in perimenopause now, and lately my periods have been wreaking havoc on me! I have been having 2 issues with my periods:
First has been this strange itching I have been having. I only have very short periods now, but on the first day, it is just the normal heavy blood clotty period, and then the next day the itching starts. It is all around the skin at my vaginal opening and my vulva. It drives me insane. Could this be hormones? Or am I getting more sensitive to the pads? I have never had an issue with them before. The last few times I just kept washing the area and trying to let air get to it the best I could with having a period, and got some relief, but I was wondering if a bit of honey would work in this instance. Sounds kind of gross, but I am open to anyone's thoughts on this.
The second problem I have been having is that after my period the prolapse has been getting worse. It doesn't just sink back up like it used to. I know my uterus isn't retroverted anymore, because I don't feel that pressure on my rectum anymore and my cervix is not pointing straight down anymore, but angled more coming from the pubic area. I don't think it is anteverted either, it's just kind of mushed up there in between if that makes any sense. I have been increasing my firebreathing, and now have started doing the third wheel yoga in between the other DVDs which does seem to help, but it has been taking longer to get things back up in there after my periods than it used to.
And, yes I do try to keep in posture as much as possible.
I think I just need to vent, because I know there are changes that are going to happen as I get closer to menopause, it's just soo frustrating!!

I read your message and It made me remember having a horrible itch after my periods, now many years later I know that I suffered from Lichen Sclerosis all my life and when I reached menopause hit me really hard. The itching spells that I had, could have been also from the Lichen or maybe other origin i will never know, but I used to help myself with spraying apple cider vinegar mixed equal parts with boiled warm water ( my mother told me that) and the itching became better, after one hour I used to rinse with warm water and let it dry by itself or very gently tap it not rub it with a towel. If I rubbed with the towel the itching started again!
I hope you have a diagnose soon and in the mean time try the spraying with the apple cider vinegar and water.
As a Lichen Sclerosis sufferer, I am for ever thankful to Christine for saving my health and my sanity with her research of taking Red Clover. Keep in mind the name of the wonderful plant that has saved me, I do not know if it is safe to take for you or not, you are in the right place to get the right advise! Good luck to you.
Solita

Thanks Solita,
From what I have read about LS on here, I didn't think it was that, because it only happens those very few days during my period. I hope it isn't the the beginning of it. I will try the vinegar though, and the patting instead of rubbing. Good point there! I have been thinking about the red clover tea also; i may be getting to the point that i may need it.Thank you for responding.
The rest of my venting was just venting. I know I have all tools in the tool bag to get my junk back up in the trunk where it belongs. Have been thinking of switching things up a little more until I get things back in order again. Ahhh, perimenopause, please end soon!

I finished a note to you but for some strange reason it disappeared so here goes again:

I cannot help you but I am writing because you are the kind lady who first suggested I get a V2 which has done wonders for me. I am forever grateful to you! As you likely know, if your read the posts, I have been recommending it to others.

I just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and hope that you soon find a solution for your "new" problem.

All the best to you, AG!

Thank you, Osmari. I have read your encouraging posts to others about the v2, and I am so glad you are helping others with having actually experienced wearing it.
And, I am thinking of you with your new challenges. I truly wish you the very best, and hope you are getting all the support you need also.

Thank you SO much!

AG, if you haven't already, you might want to try changing the pads you use with your next period and see if it does anything. I had an awful time during perimeno with developing allergies to things I had used for years, perfumes, bathsoaps, even food. Oh, and my toilet paper recently became "new and improved" and an irritant so had to go in search of a new one. It is always a delight narrowing down the culprit :-[

Thanks Arizona, guess it is time for me to do some experimenting! I have never been allergic to anything my whole life, lucky that way, until now. It makes sense that our skin would get more sensitive as we get older, but I don't like it! Lol!
Thanks again!

Was searching around the intenet about the itchies and a gyno out there said that hormone shifts just prior to periods can sometimes cause a minor yeast imbalance which can cause the itchies and other than being a nuisance is not a cause for worry: as long as the itchies go away soon after your period stops. Yay for the internet! Thought your "junk back in the trunk" analogy was cute...can get a somewhat twisted image of all of us out there jiggling our junk back into the trunk...though with some of the dance moves out there now (Twerking) who would know the difference!? Just sayin...

Lol! Thought the same thing about twerking when I am jiggling away!
Yes, the itchies do stop right after my period is done, so that is why I was wondering if it was hormonal. I also read here somewhere that some women also become allergic to the regular store bought pads. I have seen handmade pads on etsy, but was really feeling lazy about washing them out afterwards.
Thanks for the additional information! Really helps a lot!
